Pelvic Girdle Pain

Hey Everyone!
I’m 16 weeks and suffering with pelvic girdle pain. I even get pain in my hips after going for a wee. I don’t have a UTI as I’ve been having regular samples sent off due to having sepsis 4 years ago from a UTI. I only had my urine checked yesterday and it’s totally clear. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance xx

I did from about 11ish weeks. But not around going for a wee. I'm 33+4 and have been used crutches whenever I leave the house since 28 weeks (and where a brace and take co-codamol).

Ask your midwife for a physio referral. Don't get your hopes up for a magic cure though. I've heard some women have real success with chiropractors or osteopaths (private). The pelvic partnership website has tips and info.

Just to echo PP, I would advise you ask for a Physio referral as soon as possible.
My hips started hurting fairly early on and tried to manage it myself. I'm now 36 weeks in agony and don't have time for a referral to go through.
Unfortunately it's just something that some women suffer with more than others.

I'm the same it started around the same time also! I'm 32 weeks now and had physio but to be honest if your anything like me it's not a pile of use! The exercises are too uncomfortable to do! Although she did advice going to a pool and trying then as the water makes you feel lighter and they might be easier managed!

I had the same advice to go and walk up and down a pool... but the pain involved in getting to the swimming pool, putting on a swimsuit, getting out the pool, getting home and back to my first floor flat far outweigh the benefit of a 10 min swim walk!

I haven’t found any magic cures and I’ve tried private osteopath, accupuncture, massage and physio - I’d say some days are worse than others so look for triggers. I do find heat on my hips and lower back in the evening helps but I didn’t find ice helped the front (as recommended by physio) and it was quite unpleasant.

A belt helps a little bit but book in to see a pregnancy physio when you can and just try not to walk very much 😐

Thank you for your replies! I will definitely be asking for a referral! It’s not every day but when it’s bad I can hardly walk up the stairs. I’m a mobile hairdresser so have to wash peoples hair bent over the bath most of the time, and I’m stood up all day (apart from driving between appointments) I have found that heat helps a little. And I’m going to start swimming once a week so hopefully that will help too!
