Keeping trim down there when pregnant... What do you do??

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and obviously thinking about the important stuff... 🙄

I like to keep myself trim down below and I always shave (everything, no hair at all) , always have, feels comfortable and if it gets too long I get itchy and feel gross.

Wondering what the options are to continue feeling fresh once I'm too big to see anything below my tummy?

  1. keep shaving blind (I can do it without looking, but will I be able to reach??)
  2. get DH to shave me (likely to refuse on the grounds of fear of cutting me, also slim chance he'd be able to do it without also then wanting sex 😂
  3. Try some hair removal cream instead, for either me or DH to do. BUT I'm reluctant as I've used it once before down there and got super painful ingrowing hairs and never tried it again since.

4)Waxing is not an option.
5) any other options??

Does anyone have any tips from experience? How did you do it? Any DPs out there like to comment on their experiences if you've tried helping out your pregnant DP?

Many thanks in advance! 😁

I found shaving the lot achievable and I was MASSIVE from 16 weeks! I Sat in front of a mirror as I got bigger. It was not pretty lol.

RibenaMonsoon · 14/01/2019 21:20

For me it was option 1. A bit patchy but overall not a bad job.
It was all for nothing though as when I had DS I had a second degree tear and didn't want to put razors anywhere near my bits and pieces for a good week or more afterwards so it all got a bit overgrown anyway.

Kay1341 · 14/01/2019 21:21

I'm currently 40 weeks, I just shave blind and tidy up with a help of a mirror if I've missed something major. Depends on your bump though, mine isn't huge.

It's really awkward though, can't wait being able to do these kind of normal things without extra hassle!

Bigonesmallone3 · 14/01/2019 21:24

Always managed to shave all the way through my pregnancies (I was never huge)..

Don35 · 14/01/2019 21:27

My bump is huge I'm overdue and I shave down there, with the help from a mirror. Like you I feel gross if I don't. When I went through my last labour, after given birth I had a shower and found I'd missed patches. The midwives must have been laughing at me. I was so embarrassed, but I can't see or get my arm far enough down to shave properly and there is no way my partner is doing it for me, I can't even trust him to wash up properly lol

I couldn’t shave, that ends up so sharp and itchy, hot wax all the way... the salon I go to have a special pregnancy package where you are in different positions, it didn’t hurt any more than normal. And of course it lets ages compared to waxing. Is that defo not an option for you?

I defo wouldn’t use hair removal when you can’t see very well! Owww

mrsk28 · 14/01/2019 21:36

Currently 25+3 and have been shaving blind for about 5 weeks now.

It's a bit difficult but no other choice, if I have to opt for waxing later on then I'll have to. Wish I had thought of laser hair removal prior to pregnancy...

RMarieClaire · 14/01/2019 21:36

Ha. Glad someone asked this. I've always used cream and shaving to tidy, but had a paranoid panic this weekend about the chemicals (bonkers?). I can't shave fully as I get a rash. I'm 16 weeks now but honestly I suspect as we get nearer the due date, I'll just leave it alone as nature intended down there.

CosmicComet · 14/01/2019 21:38

I just let it go. I was miserable and in pain and the last thing I gave a shit about was what my bush looked like.

LeeCee · 14/01/2019 21:40

Do NOT use hair removal cream if you can't see what your me doing. I made that mistake SO. PAINFUL

lostfrequencies · 14/01/2019 21:45

Agree with cosmic.

I thought I'd care. I really really didn't.

Crossfitgirl · 14/01/2019 22:21

Oh thank god, sounds like I can just keep shaving then. Phew! Will have to get one of those shaving mirrors!
@cosmic and @frequencies I couldn't care less how it looks, it's that I feel uncomfortable /sweaty /ichy when it's too long and I think ill be uncomfortable enough as it is being massive in the height of summer!

Thanks for the responses :-)

I've just been getting DP to go down there with his beard trimmer every so often Grin keeps it short but doubt it'll win any prizes for appearance. What I can't see can't hurt me, though!

I'm a lot 'wetter' down there than when not pregnant so I didn't fancy continuing shaving as I did previously as I felt it would give me more of a rash.

slothandsloth · 14/01/2019 22:28

Just remember that things may get puffy down there. Probably TMI but honestly everything down there went so so puffy and swollen during both of my pregnancies. There was no way I was risking a razor down there when it was different to what I was used to. I used an electric bikini trimmer on the shortest setting with the full guard on and still managed to nip the puffy bits on occasion Shock

Crossfitgirl · 14/01/2019 22:32

Ahh thanks for the heads up @sloth, it's my first pregnancy so good to know what to expect! Defo will have to be more careful if puffiness occurs! Good tip on the razor. I may practice with it while I can still see!

I shaved blind all the way through, but when I was told I was getting induced right away after a stay in hospital I dragged DP into the bathroom and got him to do it... I really didn't want to be lying with my legs spread and be all patchy with little tufts missed here and there 😂 He actually did a pretty good job 😏

WhiteWashGails · 14/01/2019 22:37

I’ve left it I couldn’t give less of a shit

You'll still be able to shave down there, don't worry.

whiteonesugar · 15/01/2019 08:49

You can still reach but might have to use a mirror! I dont shave it really, usually get bikini wax but haven’t for a while so I used DHs beard trimmer on it the other day. With DS i had a wax a week before i was due to tidy everything up a bit.

To the pp who thought midwives would have been laughing i really dont think they would! They are trying to deliver a baby, not judge your lady garden!

Springmummy19 · 15/01/2019 10:04

Saw this meme on fb and it still cracks me up!

Once I got to about 21 weeks I was blind shaving as I couldn't see much but clearly I didn't do a good job because I was getting itchy in the parts I'd missed

I have a waxing session booked friday and I think I'll try and get one more done just before I'm due but if its not done I wont stress to much

Ccec · 15/01/2019 14:04

I've just been shaving blindly and hoping for the best as I cant see down there anymore! My sister who is going to be there at the birth told me if I didn't do it then she would cause she cant having me looking a state in labour hahaha :)
