Do you think my baby's breech?

I know he's got plenty of time to turn (I'm 28+2) but I'm convinced this baby is breech. I have never had a kick above my belly button, in fact I have never had a kick or movement above the midway point between my belly button and my bikini line. The majority of movement is around my bikini line. Does this mean the baby is breech? Is this what it feels like? I'm not due for any more scans as everything is fine, I had my mw appointment on wednesday and she couldn't be sure, but she said the heartbeat was a little too high for a breech postion (it was just to the right of my belly button). Did you have a breech baby and is this what it felt like?

ds was breech, and tbh I didn't notice any difference between the way I carried him or the two girls.... also, didn't notice kicks in a different place.

As you say, though, if it is breech there is plenty of time for it to turn. It still has enough room to do somersaults in there (and what fun that is!)

good luck

I had an inverted breech - where baby's body was pretty much folded in half so his feet were up by his head - so I had kicking above belly button. It felt like I had a rock under my ribs and was quite uncomfortable - don't know if this helps much. The midwife will be able to tell as you get into the later weeks and if in any doubt they will send you for an ultrasound.

I had option of manual turning - but his bum was too far engaged in pelvis - so my only option was a c-section. It was a bit of a shock at 38 weeks - but all went well and I actually recovered faster from section than I did my previous episiotomy/ventouse nigthmare with my daughter!

Good luck - hope it all goes well!

He's probably not any one way or the other yet. I'm 31 weeks and mine is one way up one day and sideways the next.
Not even worth thinking about at 28 weeks.

sweetiedarling - do you think the fact I've never felt any movement anywhere higher than a couple of inches below my belly button significant? I know there's plenty of time to turn, it's just that he always seems to be so far down.

MrsMar, my DD was breech and all her kicking was low down. (I also knew she was breech because I woke up with her head sticking out between my ribs like a third boob!) By the end I kept doubling over as she kicked me in the cervix- most unpleasant.

Am now 29 weeks with no 2 and kicking is very different, all up at the top of the bump. The MW has confirmed it is currently head down.

So in my experience yes, it is significant.

Oh thanks pendulum - I'm sure midwives know what they're talking about, but I'm sure my instinct is pretty spot on too. I'm the one feeling all the movement! I'm going to spend the next few weeks on all fours then

oh and I've just re read your post, I get loads of kicks in my cervix, and the other day one I think was one of my ovaries getting a beating, I had quite a sharp pain, not unbearable but it made me jump and it's right where I normally feel ov pain. I think this little fella is going to be trouble
