Headache

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone else had experienced headaches during pregnancy? I’m 13 weeks and I’ve had a really severe headache since yesterday lunchtime. No other symptoms - no vomiting, normal body temp. I’ve never had migraines or anything pre-pregnancy - pretty much only had headaches when I was hungover (obviously not the case now!) Just wondering if this is something that’s par for the course or something I should contact the doctor/midwife about? It’s really painful.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Almost 18 weeks now and the headaches have become a daily thing, I know I don't drink enough but I'm working on it.. could this be the same for you?
Don't worry yourself though it's another one of those beautiful pregnancy side effects 🙄

I’m sorry to say but I had a headache every day until about 17 weeks... I was drinking 4/5 litres of water a day but it still felt like dehydration. It was like a permanent hangover every day but no fun night before 😂 Hope yours eases off!!! 🤞

Thanks so much for your replies both! I’m obviously not pleased to hear that you suffered/are suffering but I am relieved to hear it’s normal. Hopefully it’ll ease off! @bigones I hope you feel better soon!

I had really bad headaches from about 8-12 weeks. Midwife said it was fine to take paracetamol if needed, so I used it when I was finding I couldn't work properly and one of those headache sticks for the rest of the time. Thankfully I've had a lot less since then!

Yep I had them really bad between maybe 14-18 weeks then they eased off thankfully. As OP said paracetamol is allowed so I took them as they were dreadful headaches. Usually not a fan of painkillers etc. Hope they ease off for you soon too.

I have long lasting headaches that are thankfully mild enough to sleep through. Paracetamol barely touched it, but I found sleeping with the window open really helped! Could be low oxygen levels as due to the winter I don't spend much time in fresh air. Went for a 40 Min walk on Friday, haven't had a head ache since!

I had this in my last pregnancy, severe headaches daily from first trimester through to almost giving birth.

I was refered to nurology to rule out anything sinister, and their diagnosis was pregnancy migraines. They prescribed me dihydrocodene and paracetamol which helped so much!

You are allowed stronger painkillers during pregnancy if you really need them. Right at the very end I was prescribed strong
Co-codomol for severe SPD for which I had to use crutches to walk. They really helped the headaches too 😊 Everything went away after DD was born.
