I haven’t felt my baby move since very early this morning I’m 19+4 an normally baby wriggles throughout the day..I’ve had sugar an still nothing , am I even to early to be monitoring the movements as maternity notes day 22-24 weeks to go in hospital for a check I think?

Go for a check just to put your mind at rest. Can you ring the hospital first to make sure they'll see you?

I have a midwife number to call just unsure wether I’m even meant to be monitoring baby’s movements at this stage as I guess there fairly small x

Try an ice cold glass of water and give the midwife unit a call.

Hope all is ok

ILoveChristmasLights · 13/01/2019 17:13

Just go and get it checked.

They don’t advise trying to make the baby move any more.

Whether monitoring is recommended at this stage or not doesn’t matter. What matters is that YOUR baby has been moving regularly and today YOUR baby has not. That’s all that matters here.

Just go 💐

Call the midwife number OP and explain your concerns, I don't know what monitoring they would do at that stage but I'm sure they would offer you a scan even if not today. Have you had your 20 week scan yet?

Springmummy19 · 13/01/2019 17:37

they say you should feel a 'normal pattern' from 24 weeks however every baby and every body is different. the best thing to do is call your midwife and tell them your concerned. they always always prefer you to check with them rather than not.

snoopy18 · 13/01/2019 17:48

Did you end up going to get checked? Hope all is ok

Scottay · 13/01/2019 18:22

I'm 22 weeks and I haven't been told to monitor babies movements yet, I assume I will be at my next appt. My understanding is that they're still too small to have an established patterns at this stage, bearing in mind some people are just starting to feel movements now. It's so hard not to worry all the time isn't it, i read that at this is early the stage the baby still has plenty room to move about. I tend to feel my baby first and last thing of the day when I'm relaxing. Hope you're okay OP

I tried the ice water an had a pack of sweets whilst lying down an it worked ,felt a few small movements thank goodness , I just panicked as baby normally moves more, if I hadn’t of felt anything when I got home would of popped up the hospital.

Thank you for the advice everyone x

Great news, never feel worried at putting your mind to rest

MissMini · 13/01/2019 22:54

Better safe than sorry if you’re worrying, they’d never be annoyed at you for being cautious. Glad all ok! 😊

le42 · 13/01/2019 23:01

I know they do say not to try and make the baby move yourself however when I’ve been in for monitoring twice this week, both times they have asked me to have a cold glass of water to encourage the baby to move whilst I’m on the morning monitor. But if in doubt definitely go in and they will hook you up to a monitor for an hour, give you peace of mind xx

TheOrangeOwl · 13/01/2019 23:26

Had reduced movements 8 times when pregnant, each time I was asked if I could drink something cold and eat something sugary before even going in to the clinic. Even in early labour I was asked to drink cold coke to make baby wake up for the monitor.

Thanks so much for the advice I’m glad I tried it first , but will not feel silly now to call in the future if I need too Flowers
