I'm in second trimester and love to do HIIT haven't so far this pregnancy but getting unfit and gaining weight really fast and would like to have a fitter healthier pregnancy.
Can I do this while pregnant? Or do I need to find a PT who specialises?

If you haven't done it for the first trimester, I wouldn't go back in to it now.

My partner is a personal trainer and he's told me that I can do 30-40 minutes of cardio - a mix of walking on the treadmill holding hand weights, the cross trainer, the rower and the bikes.

He said I can also do toga or Pilates and spin classes.

There's no harm doing arm exercises and leg exercises but avoid anything targeting the tummy.

He swears I'm best just doing cardio at this point though.

It was the core thing I was worried about
I do have a Pregnancy safe Pilates routine I've done with previous pregnancies but it's dull as anything it's my fail safe
I will have to go swimming some more and try and find some different pregnancy Pilates routines and get back on the rower/eliptical/treadmill/bike routine
I can't run when I'm pregnant which I enjoy as its outside and wanted something to do at home

You can still do your hiit sessions but modified movements where needed. That’s what my midwife had advised - low risk pregnancy here. Good luck!

I'm 10 weeks and have been doing 2/3 HIIT classes per week. I was told as long as I was active before, then it's fine to continue throughout pregnancy.

My instructors know I'm pregnant and there are a few things I have to avoid (mostly core exercises), but I believe the main thing is making sure your heart rate doesn't get too high - I believe my "max" heart rate was worked out by using my average resting heart rate and age (sorry I'm not sure how this was done exactly but hopefully your instructor can help). I use an Apple Watch so it's easy to keep an eye on it. Ultimately I'm just not pushing myself as much as a I usually would.

Hope that helps x

I am usually fairly active and I'm still walking a minimum of 2 hours a day plus doing other exercise its just HIIT I haven't Been doing and DVDs as had a lot of stuff to Deal with recently and not had time to exercise as much
I do find it very energising and kind of running on empty right now

As long as you’re not doing anything new and you were doing it pre-pregnancy and you’re a low risk pregnancy you should be fine. I’d listen to your body though and don’t push yourself to exhaustion, maybe try MIIT instead (moderate intensity). It’s probably best to modify any moves that are core focused though. I’m continuing to weight train as I’ve felt well enough to do so but I’ve accepted that I’m not trying to hit any personal bests now, just trying to maintain.
