Baby measuring beyond 95th abdomen

I'm 28 weeks and today and a month ago my baby had measured beyond 95th centilitre for abdomen. I had the GTT test today. I'm just wondering if anyone else's baby measured this big and they didn't have gestational diabetes in the end? Seems most likely? If you didn't have gestational diabetes did you still have to have the baby early and by caesarean? I was really hoping to not have a caesarean this time.

9lb+ with each DC, no gestational diabetes, or any other problems apart from tearing on the way out!

Are tears hard to recover from? Or not really?

Unless bad, tears are usually better than being cut, as they usually heal better and quicker. It's usually a (good) judgement call from the midwife as to which will be better for you.

First birth I had an episiotomy and stitches and it was a whole lot of not fun.

Second time I tore and had stitches and barely noticed them after the first few days.

That said the episiotomy was probably bigger as it was a forceps delivery.

Generally I would try not to worry too much, and have a bit of a 'what will be will be attitude'. Though I know that easier said than done.

My baby had a huge tummy the whole time, he measured off the charts consistently and his estimated weight was 9.7
He was born on his due date at 8.11 with a big tummy yes (and huge feet! Hmm) but he was not big framed at all, he was in 7lb baby grows for a couple of weeks. He was heavy but not big if that makes sense.
He still has a large squishy belly.
I did not have GD, there was talk of inducing me if the weight had gone up much more but I made it clear I wasn’t keen so they were quite happy to leave me be.
He arrived on time after an induction due to waters breaking but no contractions.
A csection was never discussed as an option due to size alone, my consultant dismissed an elective one as unnecessary.
I did tear and she also cut me to deliver by forceps - it was painful for a couple of weeks but by 8 weeks I was back to the gym and by 3 months I’d fully healed and you wouldn’t even be able to tell I had 2 lots of stitches.

Almost 39 weeks and had gd test this week as baby is growing rather rapidly. (Having extra scans because of this) On 95th percentile for abdomen and head. Have been told as well I have a lot of excess fluid (just above the normal range for afi and pocket) I think it's called polyhydramanios. Test came back as no diabetes, just growing a large baby. Due to having a pretty horrible labour with dc1 (ended in emcs) and this time desperately wanting to try for a vbac, plus existing heart conditions, my consultant has said he's not going to let me go overdue. Sweep booked for next week and induction will be booked as close to my due date. Have had endless problems with this pregnancy but she's looking lovely and healthy in there so whatever happens with the labour will happen.

In answer to your question it is possible to just have big babies and not have diabetes. And still possible to have either labour. Well I'll let you know for certain if I have a successful vbac!!

At 20 week scan dd wasmeasuring average for everything and above 99th centile for waist circumference. At 36 weeks they were worried about how huge I was so I got a scan where they estimated dd to be 8lbs 13 at 36 weeks. I was induced at 40 weeks and she was born at 40+4 weighing 8 lbs 13. The same they thought she was a month earlier! Her stomach didn’t look weirdly huge or anything. Scans are really useful but also aren’t always accurate in working out babies weight.

Yep scans can be inaccurate I'm told. It's just the huge head that's worrying me as my husband has a big head! I change my mind every day about what to do. I'm an older mum too so I'm high risk. I have vbac clinic appointment next Friday so hope you feel clearer then. user yes please let us know how your vbac goes! Good luck!
