Yes cheap ones are fine these days

coffeekittens · 09/01/2019 23:15

Each baby is different, I wouldn’t stockpile a particular brand incase they don’t suit. When DD was newborn-6 months I could only use pampers or Huggies without her leaking or getting sore, then I found Asda and Aldi’s brilliant until she was about 18 months then she became really sore with both so was back with pampers. I never got on with Sainsbury’s, Tesco or Morrison’s.

Phoenix76 · 09/01/2019 23:17

Mine were the opposite to coffeekittens, couldn’t use pampers, their bottoms would only tolerate Aldi nappies, so unfortunately it’s trial and error!

christmasrobin · 09/01/2019 23:17

Yes they are great. But different nappies suit different babies. I can't get on with pampers I find them small. ALDI are quite large which is good for my big babies. I also like Lidl ones

cindersrella · 09/01/2019 23:23

I have never been able to put either of mine in any other nappies e.g, Aldi, Asda, Tesco huggies. They all make them sore and red. Even the pull up pants. We managed 3 days of the Aldi ones and I was really pleased until she went red again.

The only ones mine can wear or wore was pampers.

My sister's, sister in law, and aunty all swear by Aldi but mine have never been able to wear them 😔

BakewellGin1 · 09/01/2019 23:28

Ah well seeing as newborn/small sizes are so reasonable I may get a pack of Asda/Aldi/Pampers in sizes for early days and see what suits us best... all for preventing poo explosions and baths at midnight like last time Smile

Ahh I miss the explosion days 😂

SurvivingCBeebies · 09/01/2019 23:39

Started with pampers... was ok (and they are always on offer somewhere) tried Aldi ones and had soreness and poonami up the back a few times.. so now back with pampers x

Didsomeonesaybunny · 10/01/2019 00:20

I use Pampers and DD has been fine with them. I always stock pile when they are on offer.

Cheesenacho123 · 10/01/2019 01:10

You honestly need to find what works for your baby when he/she is here. I’d say buy a small pack of 10-20 nappies of a few different brands and just see what works. From there it’s just process of elimination until you find the right one. We’ve had aldi, Tesco, pampers premium protection, pampers regular baby dry and pampers pants.

We started off in the first few days with aldi’s, we ran out of them and were given Tesco which we very quickly realised they were causing a rash so they got binned. We went back to aldi and after size 2/3 we swapped to pampers where we have stayed in pampers pants, now at size 5 (1’s and 2’s were amazing with aldi but size 3’s were completely different nappies with aldi and I really didn’t like them, they felt cheaper and the quality wasn’t as nice and my son started leaking more so that’s why we chose to venture away)

A lot of people will steer you away from big brands but at the end of the day get what suits your baby no matter how much it costs because that’s what she/he’s going to be in until 2-4yrs old!

hammeringinmyhead · 10/01/2019 03:37

We use size 3 and have Pampers Baby Dry at night and Lidl the rest of the time. I wasn't mega keen on Aldi tbh.

Zariiya · 10/01/2019 04:34

I can't rave about Aldi's baby range enough

MrsBosh · 10/01/2019 04:55

Get a few packs for newborn then try others. I used to work in childcare so changed thousands of nappies. IME Pampers are the softest. They also have a colour indicator line for wees which is helpful as a new parent. My son is one now... i still like Pampers and also Aldi.

ICJump · 10/01/2019 05:36

Personally I’d start with the cheapest at your closet supermarket. If they don’t work you can always go to more expensive brand.

blondeirishmummy84 · 10/01/2019 09:16

I prefer the Lidl ones out of them all.

Endofrelationship · 10/01/2019 10:10

We didn't get on with pampers. Found Asda best, then Aldi, then lidle. Tesco and Sainsbury's were awful.

We mainly used reusables though.

Morgan12 · 10/01/2019 10:47

Asda ones here for both children. Aldi and Tesco both leaked with mine. I never tried any of the more expensive brands.

Teddyreddy · 10/01/2019 11:24

We tried Aldi, but had more issues with nappy rash so stopped. We use their wipes though, they have a proper resealable lid which means they don't dry out part way through the packet as badly.

If you do go with branded ones, Amazon is by far the cheapest place to buy them in bulk particularly if you have Prime and subscribe and save. When we've compared they have then been cheaper than the supermarket ones other than Aldi, and even there it was surprisingly close.

needanappp · 10/01/2019 13:01

We switched from Pampers to Aldi after being given free samples. Never went back. Cheaper, never leaked, fit and suited DS who has very sensitive skin. Love them!

That being said I do echo PP's advising to get a few different brands in for a newborn as what suits one doesn't suit another. We're hoping to use Mamia with DD but have some Pampers and other brands on standby incase they're not for her.
