7 week scan

We finally had our 7 week scan today after having a 5 day transfer.
Turns out, our embryo split into 2 and we are having 2 babies.
One measured 6w2d and the other one considerably smaller (didn’t state measurement) but both had heartbeats.
I’m just here for some advice and what will be the likely outcome.
If others could share their experiences, that would be wonderful xx

Congratulations! I am 17 weeks gone and found out at 6 weeks I was expecting identical twins. However there were no heartbeats yet and one was very under developed. I went back two weeks later and one baby had a heartbeat, his twin sadly had not developed any further and no heart beat.

I posted to say however, that once a heartbeat is seen, it is much less likely the baby will stop developing, I believe it becomes about a 3% chance which is really good! Twin 2 of mine never got to the heartbeat stage and Twin 1, who did, is going strong. So fingers crossed both your babies will make it!

I had a scan at 7 w d1 and there were twins but one smaller. The smaller twins heart beat was not as strong. At 10 weeks twin was the appropriate six but twin 2 had not grown and nolonger had a heart beat.

The sac and fetal pole for twin 2 will just shrink and disappear.

Thank you for sharing @collywombles and congrats on your pregnancy. I’m so sorry to hear what happened to you, but thank you for sharing the very promising fact. I’m hoping since baby 2 had a heartbeat, it will catch up by next week. But no knowing till few weeks what actual outcome will be xx

@jackshouse I’m sorry you had to go through that.
Both my babies are in the same sac. I don’t know what that means though xx

Mine were non two separated babies completely independent to each other. I have one happy baby who I could see kicking away so I am OK with the outcome.

Same sac and divided egg means identical so I was told with mine OP, so all going well you will have two baby girls or two baby boys! My sonographer warned me that twin two was not doing so well and it was unlikely he would progress, if all it is with your twin is that he or she is a little smaller, then it sounds fairly positive.
