I have put on 2.5 stone between weeks 10 and 22 and am scared it is out of control. I know I shouldn't be losing but this gain is out of control.
Any help gratefully received!

I actually haven’t been weighed once during the pregnancy... do other people get weighed at midwife appointments as standard or only if they are concerned??

Bumblebee39 · 09/01/2019 21:05

@le42 I've been weighed twice, once at booking in and once a few weeks later (not sure why) but not since

Sorry yes I was weighed at booking appointment around 12 weeks... I think I’d already put weight on by then as I couldn’t exercise first trimester... but my bmi was 25 so I don’t think it was cause for concern.

What was your booking in BMI?

Bumblebee39 · 09/01/2019 22:40

26 I had already put on half a stone by 12 weeks

I'm amazed you don't get weighed each time if you're under supervision for pre eclampsia etc. I get weighed every month and I have a low risk pregnancy. I second the ideas to keep a food and drink diary with amounts/volumes etc. Also light exercise isn't a problem - if you like DVDs for exercise have you looked at finding a pregnancy exercise one? Also the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting" has some exercises in it and info on how to adapt exercise for pregnancy.

Don’t sweat it I put that on in my pregnancy and lost a stone and a half after delivery

It’s probably baby, placenta and water weight, you’re growing an amazing little baby in there. It’ll all drop off after delivery cause your taste for food will change

I was told you need an extra glass of milk and slice of bread a day during pregnancy. So food diary should help.
I think joining a slimming group is a good idea as it will help with portion control. They should have guidelines for pregnant women.

I don't think it is all baby, water and placenta though unless I'm pregnant with an elephant Shock

Trying to relax about this now but get my eating in check a little bit
I've been a bit more aware today and am actually shocked by how many little "extras" I'm having- even healthy things like trail mix and yoghurt I'm eating bigger portions than I could be and also adding desserts, fizzy drinks and bread into the mix none of which I would normally have at all

Going to try and re-focus on health and up my water, fruit, veggies and exercise. I really want this to be a turning point for me making healthier choices not just reverting to old habits once the baby arrives
