18weeks and no movements

I'm a bit worried as I felt some fluttering from about 16 weeks but for the last week or so the baby's been quiet.

Is it normal for the early movements to come and go or should I be concerned?

Very normal, you wont notice a pattern until around 28 weeks, kicks will become stronger and more kicks than flutters by around 20-22 weeks usually but it depends on where your placenta is. Mine was Anterior with my DS and i didnt feel a thing until 20+ weeks.

Really normal! Like you I had the odd flutter from about 16 weeks but nothing like a definite kick or wriggle until 19 weeks. From 19 weeks until now (25+5 weeks) my little one's movements have increased and gotten stronger. My MW told me I'd not notice a proper pattern til around 28 weeks and to keep in mind that baby has a lot of room to move about, so the movements might be more muffled sometimes, which was obvious last week when baby wriggled back down into my pelvis and started playing kickabout with my bladder!

Ok, thanks for the reassurance. It's my 2nd so I should remember but I'm sure once I felt DS he didn't stop wriggling!

I could have written this when I was 18 weeks as I was worrying too! I have an anterior placenta and I had felt faint fluttery movements around 15/16 weeks, then they became infrequent and stopped. Everything was fine at my 20 week scan and the movements kickstarted again around 21/22 weeks and have been getting more regular and frequent since then. Don’t panic, it’s very normal! X
