Keep it to yourself. It is noone’s business just yet.

You should certainly not feel obliged to tell them if you don't want to. It's up to you!

I think that if you start working for a new employer when you're already pregnant, you do not usually qualify for maternity pay, in case that's relevant (but you do get leave and governmental maternity allowance).

I think it depends on what the job is. I work in a high risk job so had to tell my employers very early on due to safety. If that's not the case for you I don't think you have to tell them until you are over 20 weeks I think it is. But personally I would say something a bit sooner than that

Accept the job, and tell them at a reasonable point in your pregnancy - many people don’t tell their employer until they are 12 weeks or later, it depends on the job and how pregnancy is for you.

Don’t pass up this job because you are pregnant- you will be off for a bit with your baby, then back and going again.

Just to say, if you’ve worked 22 weeks or more in a job in the 66 weeks before your due date, even though you might have a new employer so not eligible for SMP, you will still be entitled to maternity allowance which is around £140 a week for 39 weeks! I was in a similar position for you, and had a friend not mentioned it, I wouldn’t have applied. Google it, you just need to complete a form and send off the relevant pay slips. Also don’t be fooled by the online eligibility checker, it asks for your partner’s income but it actually has nothing to do with that - it’s your own personal NI contributions.

Sorry for the rant, just wanted to make sure you knew!!

Congrats on the job! Xx
