Waters gone, no contractions, induction booked for tomorrow

Anyone any advice or experienced similar? My water's went on Friday morning, went into hospital Friday afternoon to be checked over, they confirmed it was my waters that had gone and said I could either stay and be induced or go home and see if anything happens naturally, could wait up to 96 hours (at which point there's a risk of infection) Decided to wait and see if anything happens and booked for induction tomorrow, 72 hours after water's have gone. So now 48 hours since water's broke and apart from the odd cramps twinge nothing. Really wanted it to happen naturally Sad

Hi op. This happened to me, I was booked in for an induction the following day - like you I really wanted to start on my own. I bounced on that ball like my life depended on it! Unfortunately, I didn't start on my own so had to be induced.

At least when you go to hospital you know you'll be coming home with baby - good luck xx

Not the same for everyone of course but I was induced after my waters had gone (also the only odd twinge) but very quickly so I don’t know if it would have started naturally later that day or the next. Anyway, induction was much easier on me than most of the induction stories I heard and I wonder if this was because my body had done some of the work already so was more close to being ready.

This is exactly what happened with my first but I was left 5 days to go into natural labour but I only got to 3cm in that time so I was induced. As pp said its not as bad as most make out, I found it relaxing and even quite enjoyable. You are closely monitored and the pain is managed much better as you are constantly being assessed. My son only took 9 hours to arrive once induction started and it was an amazing experience. Good luck for tomorrow, I'm a little jealous I'm only 27 weeks with this little one and wish she would just hurry up lol

Thanks for all your stories. It's so frustrating, you just expect contractions to kick in once your water's go. I was hoping that might be the case, because my body is half getting ready that it might make induction a little easier and faster.

I had almost identical experience, except in my trust they recommend starting induction no more than 24hrs after waters break. I did have some sporadic contractions overnight and into the next morning, but when examined, before the induction started, I wasn't dilated at all - just "fully effaced and favourable".

I went straight onto the drip and had my baby 4.5hrs later. I stayed reasonably active (sat bouncing on birthing ball throughout active labour/dilation) and basically refused to stay on the bed until started pushing! I used a TENS machine for pain relief, which was brilliant. I had wanted a midwife-led natural birth, access birthing pool, very active during labour, etc. but my induction experience wasn't negative at all. Just think about what's important to you during your labour and find out if/how it can be achieved - you can still retain some aspects of your birth plan, within reason - it's still your birth experience, even if it isn't your 100% ideal. A lot of hospitals have wireless monitoring available (unfortunately it was broken when I was giving birth!!) so you can be more active/less restricted by wires if you want.

Good luck and don't fear the induction (I know I did and looking back it was a waste of worry!).

96 hours seems to be a very long time if
you are at term. When mine went they were clear they wanted the baby out within 48 hours. Mine went at lunchtime on day 1 and they wanted me in at 8am on day 2 and I was under strict instructions to check temperature every 4 hours.

I got to 3cm with early labour but never any further and needed the drip. It took a while and a fair bit of intervention before my baby came but I was very well looked after.

Yeah I would of thought 96 hours was quite long too but she assured me that it was fine, optional though I was offered induction straight away and told I can phone and go in at anytime but they would leave me no more than 96 hours. I've been checking my temp too and had daily midwife's visits
