Just that really, I can't take it any more. I feel too ill to leave my apartment. Headache, groggy and the most intense nausea. It hurts to lie down, to lift my head up. I'm not actually vomiting, but I never did pre-pregnancy.
When it was milder, food was some relief but it does nothing now and I'm having to force feed myself as everything turns my stomach.

I'm a teacher and go back to school tomorrow and I'm now massively panicking. Work don't know I'm pregnant as I'm only 7 weeks and found out during the Christmas break, but I don't know how I'm going to get dressed and get there, let alone have meetings and teach all day and hide how I feel.

I really don't know how to get through any day of feeling this ill.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

You poor thing. Sounds like my pregnancy. I worked through it but took a lot of breaks to be sick. By 8 months the only things I could stomach were milk and cheese. Lost a stone during pregnancy. BUT IT IS ALL WORTH IT.

Thank you for your reply. I feel so ill I actually this morning thought to myself I understood why some women terminate their pregnancy to relieve severe morning sickness- what a horrible thought. I just wish there was some relief but it is from when I wake up until I go to sleep.

Seriously contemplating trying to get signed off work as I don't know how on earth I'll function.

You really don't need to suffer like this, there are anti sickness meds you can take these days that aren't harmful. Go to a go on Monday. Tell work you're sick, you don't need to say why at this stage. I've been there it's rotten. Hopefully it'll pass at 14ish weeks. And don't let your gp fob you off either.

Hello OP. I was exactly the same as you. I had extreme nausea 24/7 for 5 months! Work was absolutely unbearable. All I wanted to do was lie down constantly and food was out of the question as I'd just sick everything back up - even water! I stuck it out at work until I was about 8 weeks pregnant then I fainted at work and had to tell people. I ended up going to the doctor because I just couldn't function so he signed me off work. I think I had about 4 weeks off and came back when it was more manageable and I could keep more food down. Doc offered me some anti nausea pills as well which I didn't end up taking in the end but I believe they can help enormously and are completely safe. I'd book an app with your GP as soon as possible and see what they suggest.
Wishing you the best and hope it doesn't last as long as mine. But even if it does, soon you will hardly even remember it. I have a beautiful 5 month old baby now and as a PP said it really is worth it.
Stay strong and this too shall pass 😘💐

Phone in sick on Monday. You need to go to the GP and get signed off until you feel better / or you are prescribed medicine that makes you feel better

Littlepies · 06/01/2019 03:46

Definitely call GP ASAP, I had hyperemises so was severely dehydrated and know exactly how you feel. They gave me two sets of anti sickness tablets which helped and it passed at week 17 mostly. It really is the worst isn’t it? And as everyone’s first trimester is different, not everyone understands how bad it can be. Hoping for a quick recovery for you. I found I could keep ice cubes down but not water, if that helps at all.

Headache, groggy and the most intense nausea. It hurts to lie down, to lift my head up

If this was anything other than pregnancy related, you’d take some time off to recover, wouldn’t you? You don’t have to power through- you won’t get a medal for it!

You’d be covered by discrimination legislation for any time taken off as a result of being pregnant.

Flowers I really feel for you- people just don’t get how even “normal” morning sickness is horrible. It’s not just feeling a bit queasy or being sick and then feeling ok again- it’s exhausting and relentless.

Butteredghost · 06/01/2019 04:31

Oh you poor thing, it's horrible isn't it. Definitely get a prescription for medication, although it wasn't a miracle cure for me. Took it from a 9/10 to a 4/10 for an hour or two. Which is better than nothing. I found the extreme exhaustion partially subsisted around 14 weeks. Many people also have the nausea subside at that stage so hold out hope it might be you. I can't suggest any way to get through it, except minute by minute, second by second. Every minute you aren't at work, be in bed.

The happiest day of my life was when I got my c section date booked - because I knew the date this hell would be over and I could count down.

Go to the doctor tomorrow get a sick note for sickness ask your doctor not to put pregnancy related. Ask for anti sickness medication, I had horrible morning sickness I suffered when I really should have got some help. Good luck it’s horrible I really do feel for you xx

Lou0219 · 06/01/2019 20:06

Oh I forgot to say try ice pops they really helped with my sickness x

Nursiemum27 · 06/01/2019 20:21

I feel your pain!!! It’s just horrible isn’t it!!! I work part time and had to drag myself to work last week when all I felt like doing was curling up in a ball. But once I was at work even tho I still felt beastly the pressure of working meant I was able to do what I needed to. Mind you I only work 4 hours a day, not sure if I would cope with a full day

SenoraSurf · 06/01/2019 20:31

Im a teacher too and felt just like you do! I went to the doctor over the break and was prescribed promethazine (25mg twice daily). It's really been great so far for me. I still feel naff but it's manageable.
You can buy it over the counter at a pharmacy as phenerghan. I take one in the morning and one at night.
Go and see a doctor xx

ememem84 · 06/01/2019 20:38

Go to your dr tomorrow. I’ve had days where I’ve felt like that but not constant. Those days (am currently 11 weeks - I think...) I’ve just powered trough but if it was all the time I’d have just been worn down by it.

As another person said, if you weren’t pregnant you’d take the day or see a gp so why not now. Don’t martyr yourself. Bollocks to being a big strong woman who pushes through. Be the stronger woman who admits she’s had enough and seeks help.

I hope you feel better soon. I wasn’t sick when I was pregnant with ds and so far haven’t been with no 2 but somedays when the nausea has been bad I’ve wished I had been just to make it go away.

Teddyreddy · 06/01/2019 20:42

Another one to say go see your GP. At 7 weeks, I'm afraid the chances are its going to be worse - so there really is no point exhausting yourself by going in at this point, save the energy to help you get through the next few weeks.

There is a lot of evidence the first line anti emetic drugs are safe to take, which are what a GP would give you to try first. Although they can't test them on pregnant women, they go back and look at data on literally millions of women who have ended up having to take a particular drug - and compare outcomes for the baby against women who didn't take that drug.

Don't feel bad it's 'just' nausea, my first pregnancy was the one I vomited the most and was so much easier than the relentlessness of the nausea this time.
