Bloody show/plug? TMI warning!!

Warning that this whole thread could be TMI!!

Currently 40+2 with first baby and yesterday I had what I assumed was the start of mucus plug coming away, it was like stringy yellowy discharge with some jelly like lumps in it. Had a bit more of that over night and then this morning I got up and what felt like a massive lump of it came out in the toilet, some of it was like clear jelly but some of it was bright red blood. Since then there's been a load more of it, still mucus like but with more red blood. Obviously as a ftm I have no idea what I was expecting but there just seems to be loads of it and a lot more blood than I was expecting. Does this sound normal? Should I be concerned by bright red blood, I was told it would probably be old blood. There seems to be more and more of it coming out each time I wipeBlush

I know it massively varies but when could I expect to go into labour? At the moment I'm having off and on period type pains but nothing more. Baby has been moving as normal so I'm not concerned about that.

I’ve had two children but I can’t remember tbh sorry.

Call your midwife and ask them to put your mind at rest.

Have you had any contractions?

WillardJStevens · 04/01/2019 12:03

Sorry missed the bit at the end. Sounds like it’s early stages, but do ring about bright blood to stop you worrying

A bloody show can mean imminent labour..
Sounds to me like this could be the start..

I hope so although no sign of any contractions yet! Maybe I need to do some nestingGrin
