Should I take a test so I can tell my PT?

I'm not sure whether this is best here or on the conception board. I'm on CD29 (I know, ridiculously early still) and I have a regular, weekly personal training session tomorrow. I have some indication that I might be pregnant (noticeable basel temperature shift in the last 3 days (a second shift after the post-ovulation shift), fairly regular 28 day cycle) but was hoping to hold out to test until the weekend. Should I test tomorrow morning so that, if it's positive, I can tell my PT to avoid the wrong kind of exercise? Or hold out until the weekend? (I'm sure I'm overthinking this and probably not pregnant anyway, but I had a miscarriage in the summer so I'm so nervous about doing anything wrong). Thanks!

Honestly it doesn't matter what exercise you do even if you're pregnant.

There’s not really any exercise that you can’t do so early on in pregnancy - I still did circuit training and PT sessions with no problems. You can’t do sit ups past the second trimester and obviously you need to take it easy and scale some of the exercises as your pregnancy progresses but overall you should be absolutely fine! Good luck btw Smile

There’s no exercise you’re going to do that will have an impact on a pregnancy succeeding.

Hi @Panapan - I would take a test first thing in the morning, and the reason I say that is because I've had three rounds of IVF and every time the clinics have told me not to do any vigorous exercise or anything that could raise my core body temperature (even my beloved electric blanket is a no-no!) Apparently overheating is bad for developing embryos.

To be clear - I'm normally very no-nonsense and wouldn't mollycoddle myself in any way, but with a potential pregnancy I just wouldn't take any chances, so I follow doctor's orders.

I was a day or two late, and when I felt completely different (hot and bothered, short of breath, slightly dizzy) in a heavy weights class one morning I took the test when I got home and it was positive - I just sort of knew! I told my PT straight away though who was great and started making a few amendments as obviously your goals will completely change if you are expecting!

Thanks very much all. Helpful advice!

My PT was actually the first person I told! He was able to tailor my work out so we can concentrate on strengthening my back to support my bump when it comes, and other changes to my work out. Mine is trained in pre and post natal training so I feel confident in him.
