Baby is so active on a night

Just wondering if anyone else is kept awake by their LO kicking, punching, rolling, fluttering and twirling like a future Olympian on a night? I’m 25 weeks and it’s been like this the past 5 weeks but obviously getting stronger as she’s growing, I’m beginning to be completely exhausted throughout the day.

I’m grateful she’s so active and I do love her moving around, and of course her getting the practice in for the 2030 Olympics however, I would like some sleep as I’m back at work tomorrow today (I already feel tired thinking about it!)

Any tips to try and nurse her to sleep or any thing which helps/helped you?

Much appreciated!

I’m now 33 weeks and 5 days pregnant with twins and am constantly kept awake due to how active they are. I founds there’s not that not that much you can do but if you have one, I’d always sleep with a pregnancy pillow and if you don’t have one, I seriously recommend getting one as it’s been a lifesaver for me! Best of luck with your pregnancy 😊

I remember that well. I used to sleep very well when I was pregnant, could sleep for England, even when I was woken up by activity I'd soon settle myself more comfortably and go back to sleep again so it didn't bother me too much.

Babies are funny though, it's as if they are doing cartwheels, dancing and sometimes playing football within the comfort of our bodies. There's nothing else like it.

Wingingeverything · 02/01/2019 05:33

My little one was like that when I was pregnant, moving nearly all night. He is 8 weeks old and still hardly sleeps at night 😬😄 x

Same here - I’m at 28 weeks and baby is crazy active during the night. Body pillow helps a lot to get comfy & go back to sleep but I have issues getting back to sleep so I’m starting to get super tired during the day! Worth trying a body pillow though to find an alt position you may be able to go back to sleep in. I’m an early bird and wake up around 5-6am so constantly shifting around during the night is a night mare haha. Come 1pm I need a nap but don’t want to be getting in the habit of that yet as still 3 months to go! Could be worth trying some oils too - I’m picking some up today to give it a try on the pillow

My baby was the same. Someone told me it was because you're active in the day it rocks baby to sleep, then they're awake all night when you're trying to sleep.

My DD started sleeping through at 9 weeks, and at 4 months sleeps between 10 and 12 hours at night so don't worry too much. It doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a baby who is up all night!

TooSkoolForKool · 02/01/2019 07:10

I'm 23+1 and have the exact same going on. I'm also back to work today and currently sat on the train exhausted.
He does have a good old knees up during the day too but at night he goes crazy!!!
I love feeling him but my god at 3am this morning I was starting to get a bit fed up haha

loveskaka · 02/01/2019 07:26

This is because during the day your basically rocking the baby to sleep while you move around. When u settle and lie dwn they wake up. I also think it's nature's way of preparing you for the night times wakening when baby arrives😩

Anyat212 · 02/01/2019 12:05

Thanks everyone.

I have a body pillow but I haven’t used it for the last few weeks, I didn’t sleep much better with it however didn’t have much of a bump then. I will try this again tonight- fingers crossed.

Completely agree about natures way of preparing you with little sleep, I bloody love my sleep too so I definately think it is. I too can sleep for England during the afternoons however it’s asif she knows when I’m in bed 😂 and decides that I shall not be sleeping.

@snoopy18 what oils have you have bought? I was debating those but read something about pregnant ladies and lavender and didn’t look into it any further. (Probably some junk article I read online)

Cute thought about the babies being rocked to sleep during the day though, I’m not going to lie I felt like going on a mid night run last night to try and calm her down!
Also to avoid DP snoring right in my face along with stealing the covers - very smooth.

Hope you get relief soon!

I have news! I will still have sleepless night but won’t be uncomfortable very soon as I am going to be induced on the 9th.

Anyat212 · 03/01/2019 01:19

Wow, at least you’ll get meet them both soon! I can’t imagine what it’s like having 2 LO in there kicking and swirling around - I feel bad for complaining. Hope all goes well for you x

I’m finally using the pregnancy pillow altho she’s still super active (1am is her favourite time) it’s certainly making me feel more comfortable

The pregnancy pillow is truly amazing and comfortable! 😂 honestly as unclear as their movements can be at times and I complain about them keeping me up at night, I think I will miss it though. This was taken last night and it hit me that in a week I won’t feel this anymore ❤️

MummyTJ · 03/01/2019 12:37

30 weeks tomorrow and couldn’t relate more! This little boy is so active already

Grimbles · 03/01/2019 13:33

The hourly pattern for me is doze off for 10 mins, kicking starts, bladder starts, gdt up, wee, spent 15 minutes getting comfortable, doze off for 10 mins, kicking, bladder, wee, and repeat until 4am.

Then add the central heating clanking to the mix Angry

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 13:50

Oh yes, don’t even get me started on the constant need to pee 😂

Anyat212 · 03/01/2019 14:09

@BeverlyZimek total action shot that picture! 😂 I’m sure I’ll feel like that once I get closer to giving birth, I’ll admit it did take a while to get used to the movements and flinched every time. (I’m guessing it’s down to this being my first pregnancy) Now Ill just lay there letting her kick what ever she can! Do you know what your having? Or are you having a surprise?

I tried eating poached eggs last night much later than usual in the hope she’ll have that and nap... meaning I could ninja upstairs and fall asleep before she woke up. It did help but THEN it comes back to a few points on this thread, that it’s needing a wee every hour. I did not know it was humanly possible to wee so much!!

Yes I know their gender, I’ve got two little girls in there. Still haven’t chosen there names which I prefer should do with them being here so soon 😕 I’ve narrowed my list down now though but I love all the names on it so it’s hard. Any of you chosen your names yet?

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 16:09

Also yeah that was the best photo I could get, I also get my phone out hoping to catch a brilliant photo but I’ll end up taking it at the wrong time. I also got this one though which is pretty good 😂

Anyat212 · 03/01/2019 17:47

Ah how lovely! we’ve decided with Violet (I’ve always loved that name) I’ve tried not to think any harder on names because I’d be exactly like you! Or I’d end up with 5 middle names haha. It’s cute too as we and close family/friends refer to her as Violet it’s never bump anymore. It’s constantly “how’s Violet doing” to my bump - I’m just old news now 😂

I’ve not managed to get any action shots yet! It’s more little waves I’ve seen on my belly but I’ve only just ‘popped’ to be honest!

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 17:53

Violet is gorgeous! So far I’ve managed to get my list down to Lillian, Abigail, Daisy, Eliza, Hope and Leslie.

Anyat212 · 03/01/2019 22:30

You’ve got a good selection there, Daisy was an option for us! I love Eliza too.

Good luck on the 9th 💜
