Car seats and travel systems

There is so much information around about it all but its too much! I need a easy to fold but sturdy travel system that doesnt cost the earth! I need a good quality system, including car seat as I dont drive but my family are going to be very involved. I will be going in 2 different cars often and a few other peoples once in a while during little mans first few years so I need a car seat that is lightweight but safe and can be easily put in different vehicles.
Ive been told perhaps 2 bases for the main 2 cars, and then just use a seatbelt for the other cars? Is this feasible? What do you guys suggest? Is the Cosatto giggle 2 as good as the reviews say? Also the Ickle Bubba Stomp v3?

I got the maxi cosi cabriofix car seat and it can be secured by seatbelt. It fits loads of prams using adaptors. I wouldn't bother with a base at all if you're in and out of different cars a lot?

Or you could get a base 2nd hand for half the price which I'm going to do.

I'm looking at Bugaboo Cameleon pram with carrycot from Gumtree atm.

Go to mothercare or mamas & papas and ask, they are really good advisors and give you honest realistic ideas. Two bases sounds like a good plan.

I would avoid mothercare for car seats. I was told the seat I had planned to buy wouldn’t fit our car after they spent 10 minutes trying and failing to fit it. Tried a different brand - same issue. Ended up going to a specialist car seat place only to be told the original seat did fit and they fit it in a matter of minutes. Mentioned we’d previously been told it didn’t fit to which they replied “was this mothercare by any chance”. Apparently it was a regular occurence!

Venicci travel system but buy two bases for a maxi cosi. They're fine with a seatbelt for infrequent use.

You don't need a travel system. You can buy a pram and get adaptors that for car seat onto it. This works out cheaper. For example we got a mothercare pram and bought a maxi cosy car seat and adaptors to attach it to pram base were arround £20.

We found Mothercare really helpful.

Oh I remember this, it's very confusing. I'd go for the pram you want, maxi cosi car seat and adaptors. You can get the base for the cabriofix really cheap second hand and unlike the car seat itself a second hand base doesn't compromise safety.

Don't spend too much on your pram because you may grow to loath it and want something lightweight and easy to fold up and down very quickly.

I'm ordering the Cosatto Giggle 2 bundle through Mothercare on offer for £394, however, the car seat will only be our back-up for our second car.

It depends how often baby will be in the car as to how much you spend, I think. We are investing £300 in a Joie chair which does from birth to 12 years old. From birth, it's rear facing and reclines to help keep baby's airway clear. As he gets older, the chair can be adjusted and eventually becomes a booster.

The Cosatto chair is Group 0+ so will only do for 6-9 months.
