Third trimester with twins

Thought I’d make a thread to see if there’s anyone else on here that are also heavily pregnant with twins 😂 I’m 33 weeks with identical girls (due February 14th). How are everyone feeling? I’m definitely starting to get uncomfortable and tired at this point and can’t wait for this to be over so I can just hold my little girls.

Not heavily pregnant with twins but have 1 year old twins. Born very prematurely so didn’t get much of a final trimester. I remember being extremely uncomfortable early on and tired. Just wanted to wish you all the best and tell you to relax whilst you can. Twins are a blessing but hard work! X

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 21:02

glad your babies are doing well! Have you got any advice for when they get here, I’m definitely getting nervous now as I know it’s not going to be easy xx

Honestly, take all the help you can get. If a friend wants to come and make you a cup of tea and let you have a shower, let them. Also be prepared for the amount of attention you will receive from strangers. They all love twins and want to tell you their stories and find out if they were conceived naturally or IVF! Main piece of advice is don’t panic. You can’t deal with two babies at the same time. They have to learn to wait. It’s funny actually I’m more relaxed with my twins than with my older children. Mostly though enjoy them. All the best x

I never made it to the third trimester, but my twins are happy and healthy! It’s a rollercoaster ride but the best thing I’ve ever done. Good luck!

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 21:26

Thank you very much! I am very lucky really, their dad and I aren’t together and I’m allowing he be as involved as he wants yet he hasn’t done much byr my family are incredibly supportive and have said they will be there to help me as much as need xx

My girls are 6 now, born at 34 weeks. I remember how painful those last weeks were. I measured full term from 28 weeks so carried a full term bump around for almost 7 weeks, it was tough going! The day I delivered mine I measured 52 weeks and a tape measure couldn't fit around my middle!

Best of luck, it's a crazy ride.

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 21:39

Oh god, I can’t imagine how uncomfortable that was! I was told I was measuring full term at my last appointment a few days ago and I both look and feel huge plus my belly feels so hard. It’s so crazy to look at myself since I’m naturally quite skinny 😂

I'm 29 weeks and just cannot get comfortable either during the day or in bed at night. Aches and pains everywhere but I can't wait to see them. Just was hoping to feel more rested but it's impossible.

newrubylane · 30/12/2018 21:43

23 weeks with twins here - so not heavily pregnant yet, but also naturally thin and thus already feeling huge. Someone told me the other day that I looked like a stick that had swallowed an egg! Confused

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 30/12/2018 21:50

This is making me all teary!

Mine were born this year.... I can still say that for about 24 more hours.... back in Feb. Definitely hard to sleep at the end. My advice is to keep moving as much as you can, as even gentle movements help iron out some of those muscle pains. Such a relief to give birth though!

Mine are b/g and just starting to talk 😍

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 21:53

Wow it’s so nice talking to people that can relate. Congratulations to everyone!

I’m 15 weeks pregnant with twins (these are my first) and I’m terrified! I haven’t been given much information from the hospital about how often my appointments should be and anything I should and shouldn’t be doing! Do any of you have any information?

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 17:07

I was terrified also, especially being 19 and doing this on my own but I’ve started to feel better over time. As for appointments, during the first trimester I was having prenatal appointments about once a month then even two weeks during my third trimester and lately it’s been once a week. This includes both scans at the hospital and home visits.

Glad you’re feeling better. I know it’s going to be hard but definitely worth it. Oh thank you, that makes sense. I’ve had a 6 and 12 week scan and due for a consultation visit at 16 weeks.

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 18:25

Pregnancy can be rough but my advice is just remember that it’ll be worth it in the end, feel free to private message me any time. I’m being induced on Wednesday as my blood pressure was looking a bit high yesterday and they diagnosed me with gestational hypertension, I’m a mixture of scared and excited!

I'm 28 weeks pregnant with identical girls and I also have a 2 year old who was born premature at 34 weeks - so same as you'll be I guess OP! She was only 3lb11 but getting to 34 weeks meant her lungs were much better developed than more premature babies, so she was totally fine. The special care units are amazing, the nurses there are lovely :)

I can imagine it's going to be hard work for all of us, but everybody seems to say you just get on with it! Doing it on your own sounds like it might be hard, OP, have you got family around to help? I'm going to be 40 next year, so I'll be getting tired quicker than you I bet, haha!

comradelouise · 03/01/2019 22:22

oh also - I'm a twin myself, and just to say one advantage we'll have is that once the babies are older, they should entertain each other! :)

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 22:24

Yes I have family around, they are amazing and have said they’ll gladly help out as much as we possible. Knowing they’ll probably be quite small is quite scary so I’m glad hear your little one was born as early and is okay is very comforting. Congratulations on your twins by the way!

I'm a nanny for 2yr twin boys. Be prepared for all the twin questions

Are they twins? My usual response is 'no they're triplets, we keep the third at home for spare parts'
Are they identical?
Double trouble
You've got your hands full
Oo twins that's hard work

Don't beat yourself up about 1 of them having to wait, they soon learn to accept that's twin life. Most of all enjoy them - it's double the love, the cuddles & the kisses

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 23:54

Babies are super active tonight and normally I’m not the best at getting decent photos but I just got some amazing ones!

BeverlyZimek · 04/01/2019 00:24

Yes it can be very uncomfortable but now I’m embracing it since I k is it’ll be over in less than a week! Congratulations on your twins @Istef ❤️

You will all get there!
DS was 3.12 at birth but now eats all his dinner and part of his twin sister's! They grow so much.

We have just finished the morning Porridge-pocalypse Shock they are both on the floor growling at each other with their hair sticking straight up Grin
