I’m rapidly approaching my second planned c section and wondered if anyone had any great tips post birth just to make those first few weeks easier? I’m pretty organised but I know there are some great tips out there!

I’ve got a Tesco shop coming the day before, bags packed, clothes washed and changing stations all set up. I’m taking drinks to the hospital as hated the tea and water last time. I have a next to you and read a great tip to have it husbands side for the first couple of weeks (logical but logic seems to leave the building post birth!)

Things to have in - anything really!

All other tips welcome!!!

Thank you Smile

Lots of just-bung-in-the-oven freezer meals.
Disposable drynites sheets for the moses basket to save on laundry for the first week.
A good bra or two.
Plenty of dishwasher tablets.
Earplugs for the hospital.

We did loads of batch cooking and froze meals so all we had to do was pull a dinner out each morning.. that kept us going a month it was brilliant!

Good tips! Dry nights is a good one as we have those but didn’t think of that!
Any meal suggestions for batch cooking so far:
Mac & cheese
Chilli
Going to make cottage pie, fish pie and lasagne!

I remember being pretty overwhelmed last time so prep is my salvation!!

Just make sure you have loads of maternity pads - I thought I had enough but I didn’t!

physicskate · 30/12/2018 19:21

Are 30 maternity pads plus a pack of always super strength enough?

KittyMcTitty · 30/12/2018 19:27

I didn’t bleed much last time - but every time is different! Always are more comfortable than maternity pads - but all depends! It’s enough to start with and see how you get on!

Batch cooking is great but if you are planning on breastfeeding then cook stuff you can eat one handed like macaroni cheese. I did loads of lasagne but had to get my partner to slice it up for me for the first couple of weeks as I had my baby on the breast most of the time!
