Can anyone enlighten me on the difference between the regular prefect prep and the Night & Day one - apart from the extra £50 odd pounds between them 🤷‍♀️

The night and day one is a new version which i believe allows you to turn the bleeping volume off at night. I dont mnow what else is different but i got it off amazon on offer for 109

driggle · 29/12/2018 20:20

I have the original one and AFAIK the new one has a light for night time and the beeps are quieter. We turn the kitchen light on in the night anyway and neither baby nor anyone else in the house has been disturbed by the beeping, which isn't particularly loud anyway.

Thank you, I figured we’d go with the original and save ourselves a bit of money if the only difference is the light & volume x

Do these work? Didn't get one before I was worried they might get bunged up or go mouldy or something, but if they work they sound wonderful!

Theweasleytwins · 29/12/2018 20:28

I think the mould problem was actually charcoal/hard water build up from people using cheap non approved filters

didihearthatright123456 · 29/12/2018 20:30

A friend of mine used it for her twins (I’m also expecting twins), she said they’re amazing but you have to be on it with the cleaning & using the proper filters as PP said x

My DD bought one of the first ones once she stopped breast feeding. I remember telling her they were a waste of money. However, after having DGS staying over a few times, I think they are the best thing invented for bottle fed babies!
I remember having 8 bottles that had to be sterilised on a big container, then made up all 8 bottles, refrigerate them and then warm the bottle up in a jug of hot water. What a faf, especially if you ran out of bottles! It would take ages to make up one.
My DD has 2 bottles that can be sterilised in 3 minutes in the microwave then make a bottle up in about 2 more minutes, with the milk at the perfect temperature. Sooo much better!

riotlady · 29/12/2018 20:41

They’re amazing!

I would recommend getting it from John Lewis if possible- ours crapped out 9 months in and they’ve agreed to repair/replace it without any fuss at all.

Bumblebee39 · 29/12/2018 20:41

Good to know thanks
Will make sure to use the TT filters when/if I get one

LutherRalph1 · 29/12/2018 20:49

TT are sneaky though
We had a normal perfect prep
Since we purchased, the day and night was released
Ours broke and we received a replacement
They have definitely made the beep louder, presumably to encourage people to
Buy the day and night Hmm

LittleDoveLove · 29/12/2018 22:08

I'm going to get the day and night, heard the day one makes an annoying beep which drives you mental during the night feeds. I think you can get them for £90 at the mo in some places :) have a little look on google.
As others have said think you just have to make sure you use their specific filters and follow the routine hygiene cleaning requirements.

PurpleFlower1983 · 29/12/2018 23:38

The Day and Night is £91 in Mothercare if you can find a store that is closing down.

voxnihili · 30/12/2018 06:53

I have the normal prep machine. I'm a bit of a nightmare for having to have the latest of everything but there's no way I'd pay £50 just to get rid of the beep. It's not that loud and if you're up with the baby, you're awake anyway so what's the problem with a couple of beeps?

MrsG010814 · 30/12/2018 08:34

I wouldn't bother with the day and night one. I've used the original one with ds1 and Ds2 and the beeps aren't loud and haven't woken Ds1 up when used upstairs in the middle of the night for Ds2.

RedDeadRoach · 30/12/2018 08:41

I had a perfect prep for my twins. Absolutely life saver. I made up bottles in the normal way using the kettle for about 2 weeks as I didn't trust the perfect prep. Can't believe it took me that long to try it. I kept a tub of sterile water on the side and just fished out some bottles and made them up in 2 minutes.

gt84 · 31/12/2018 00:01

You guys are right about being able to turn off, or turn down the beeps and also a light so you could use it in the dark if you wanted.
The other difference is the screen which tells you the step by step instructions and also when to change filter etc. With the older model you would just have to read the instruction book each time until you learnt it I guess? Probably not worth £50 though!

TurquoiseDress · 31/12/2018 14:59

The perfect prep machine is amazing!

I'm not sure how we survived we DC1 using the kettle and bottle warmer (could never get the temp quite right!)

I wouldn't bother with the day/night version, you may as well save the money to spend on something else.

Also, once you've used it a few times you'll definitely get the hang of it and won't need to refer to instructions each time!

Also, the old version which I have, the indicator tells you when the filter needs to be changed

RogueV · 31/12/2018 15:01

I have an old perfect prep and I can’t even remember the beep! I definitely wouldn’t pay extra for the newer one

AmateurParents · 03/01/2019 15:46

Best.Invention.Ever!! My parents and in-laws are shocked at how easy and convenient they are! I'm hoping to breastfeed with my next one but if all fails, that bad boy will be coming out!!
