How big a chest of drawers will I need for first baby?

Just that really, should I get a standard one that has three drawers, or one that has three either side so 6 in total? Small one will fit in the room we have planned for baby, but if we need to get a bigger one we will have to have baby in another room.

I'm not planning to get a wardrobe, as we do have some fitted ones in the room.

So confused by how much space tiny outfits and muslins will take up! Any insight would be appreciated.

DS is 6 and has only just progressed from a 3 drawer chest of drawers as he now has school uniform, sports kit & that sort of thing.

A standard three drawer one will be enough. We had muslins, socks, bibs ect in top drawer. And all clothes in the middle one. Next size up in the bottom drawer and that was plenty. We also have a wardrobe but even now DS is nearly two it stands pretty much empty. We only use the wardrobe for coats and snowsuits.

I'd say standard 3 drawer- we got a 6 drawer one for DC1 but at 5yrs it's still much too big and we're planning to sell and downsize!

Agree standard 3 drawer as well.

I have a 5 draw where one draw is empty and another draw has some of my clothes in it.

You forget that babies and young children are smaller in size so you can fit all their clothes into it.

The other thing that works well for baby clothes are those drawer dividers for ties and underwear

Standard 3 drawer is fine. My 5 and 3 year olds still have a 3 drawer.

The smaller one will be fine. If you have built in wardrobes you could always put in hanging shelves there. My dd is 11 and only has a 5 drawer chest of drawers and no wardrobe. All their stuff is very small anyway.

Great thanks everyone really helpful, will stick to the smaller size.

I had a tall one with 5 drawers for dd she still has it now at 7 and I had the change mat on top of it.
