Clear blue with weeks... wrong?

So today by my lmp and ov strips etc I would expect I should be about 5 weeks pg. I have done a clear blue digi with weeks indicator yesterday and today and both times it's said 1-2 weeks! I'm really concerned now that somethings wrong and my hcg levels are not as high as they should be as I should surely be at the 2-3 weeks stage at least? Has anyone else used these and they've been completely wrong, before I drive myself insane.

They are notoriously bad for getting the weeks wrong. I wouldn't worry about it if I was you.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 28/12/2018 09:40

I'm sorry but that can be a bad sign if your weeks are not progressing, or it may just be a fault with the test. I would try a normal test with the line and see if the line is getting any darker.

Bigonesmallone3 · 28/12/2018 09:41

It's still a positive and that's the main thing

Don't worry

Bigonesmallone3 · 28/12/2018 09:41

@Chocolatecoffeeaddict
Why would the weeks progress they were a day apart

smerlin · 28/12/2018 09:47

If the weeks go down there can be a problem- when I had a mc I went from 2-3 wks to 1-2 as my hcg levels were falling.

If this is the only digi you have taken I wouldn't worry. People have very different hcg levels acc to the banding used by clearblue. The important thing is not the absolute figure but that the hcg level is doubling from whatever level you started at.

Also don't forget implantation happens a significant time after conception and cb is not measuring weeks from LMP

RanchoRelaxo · 28/12/2018 10:06

My digital tests took ages to turn to 2-3 weeks, was still getting 1-2 when I had a really dark line on a frer. Please try not to worry, I had bought a pack of 3 so used them up but they did cause me stress, I didn't buy anymore and I definitely didn't want to test to try and get 3+

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 28/12/2018 10:09

If 4-5 weeks you can expect to see 2-3, 5 weeks plus you can expect 3+. So the OP's test hasn't progressed for the weeks she is.
I'm not saying it's definitely a bad sign. As I said it could just be the test. I would try and hold off a couple of days and retest and see if you get a different result. Or try a different brand of digi test.

Jackshouse · 28/12/2018 10:10

Clear blue measure from conception so you need to add on 2 weeks. You think you are 5 weeks and the test thinks you are about 4 weeks. That could be 4+6. Not a huge difference. Do you think you are just 5 weeks or are you more like 5+6.

Flossylou · 28/12/2018 10:18

@Jackshouse only 5 weeks just either today or yesterday. I had a positive opk on the 7th dec so I could in theory be a bit under 5 weeks.

Thanks for everyone's replies, I'm just going to try and wait it out, i probably should have waited longer then one day to test again but you know what it's like when you have a 2 pack Confused.

Waiting it out is definately for the best. At this stage things really could go either way. I had two losses last year with which the lines on the pregnancy tests took forever to get darker (indicating slow rising hcg) before I started bleeding at about 6 weeks and 5 weeks respectively, but I am now 21 weeks pregnant with a little boy whom I was convinced I was also going to lose early on due to very low and slow rising hcg confirmed via blood tests (we were under fertility clinic by this point). I only got a 2-3 at 21 dpo with him and 3+ later. Good luck!

BifsWif · 28/12/2018 10:42

A previous poster is correct.

If you were 4 weeks pregnant, it would show 1-2 on the conception indicator so it’s really not far out at all.

Try and relax, keeping everything crossed.

I had a surprise pregnancy and the woman at the epu asked me to do a clear blue test to see what it said, after that she specifically told me not to do anymore because she's seen how much worry they can cause. Of course it can sometimes indicate something is wrong, but definitly not always. I had very low hcg levels in my last pregnancy, the very bottom of the expected range but all was totally fine.

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/12/2018 15:55

Mine said 3+ at 5 weeks but everyone is different.

SparkyBlue · 28/12/2018 18:32

A friend of a friend is a doctor in a maternity hospital and strongly feels that these type of tests should be banned. According to her they constantly cause unnecessary stress and worry to newly pregnant women.

Flossylou · 28/12/2018 18:48

Thanks everyone I'm going to stay away from them- I only got my bfp last Saturday and it was only quite faint then; even though it was supposedly 16dpo, it's much darker this week. I'm thinking maybe I ovulated later then I thought the opk never went fully +

What will be will as they say ☺️ (pretending I'm much calmer then I really am- god I hate the initial weeks of worrying)

I hate those test, last pregnancy my blood HCG was 1,000 above what the test was showing and I took both on the same day, this pregnancy I was 2-3 then went down to 1-2 a few days later so presumed a loss then the next day was 3+ and 14 weeks now and all fine

emwithme · 28/12/2018 18:57

I never got past 1 - 2 weeks on a clearblue test.

DD is a month old today and is cluster feeding like you wouldn't believe

BifsWif · 28/12/2018 18:59

The next 18 years+ of worrying isn’t much fun either Wink
