Best buy for baby no2?

We have an extremely active son who is 2 and quite honestly is buzzing from 6.30am until 7.30pm and doesn't ever sit still, unless being played with all the time. So I'm conscious when baby no2 arrives in May I'm not going to have all the sleepy cuddles on the sofa like I did with my son. What have you found to be the best buys for second baby? A great playmat, sling/carrier, downstairs Moses basket, great vibrating fancy chair?! I had hardly any of these things the first time 🙈 and now slightly nervous about thinking how I can entertain/keep them both happy xx

Time at play group/ nursery/ childminder for DC1?

Or failing that, a sling for DC2 so you can chase DC1 around! Newborns just want to be close to you (mostly)so anything which enables you to cuddle them whilst also managing an older child is good. Will help older child too as it will reduce how much the dynamic changes.

The angelcare soft touch bath seat for new baby. Made bath times with 2 lovely and relaxing as frees up hands. I found the solid seats they slipped around in and weren’t comfortable.

A sling. I recommend the Close Caboo (no tying!). I actually took mine into hospital - we had slings with DC1 but not from newborn. With DC2 I remembered that sleep deprived stage and packed (and used) sling in hospital. It meant baby got used to it from birth and that if I felt I was going nod off I could put baby in sling and know it would be safe.

I have found that dc2 considers dc1 to be the best entertainment of all. If you do feel the need to buy fancy stuff then check out marketplace and ebay, baby stuff sells for a fraction of the original price. I have found a bouncy chair useful, but dc2 hated a sling for the first couple of months.

I’d suggest waiting until the baby arrives and then going to your local sling library (check online - NCT branches often run one) and trying out lots of different slings to see which one, if any, suits.

This is Great advice thank you very much. He does go to a nursery one day and hoping my mum may have him another day for me!! I will check out a sling library when she's here, I wanted to look at one but wasn't sure When, so I will wait. Thank you xx
