Terrible pain at 4.5 weeks pregnant

Hi
I don't know if I should go to hospital or not as if I'm miscarrying there is little they can do and I don't want to waste anyone's time especially during the Christmas period. I am really worried that I'm having the symptoms of an ectopic though which I know require immediate attention.

I have been having stomach pains on and off since before I found out I was pregnant, they started off mild period like cramps but have progressed in to horrible labour type contractions on and off throughout the day. They're preventing me from sleeping at night and doing normal things, right now it's boxing day and my children have gone to my mums for a family party whilst I've taken to my bed with a hot water bottle. I have some painkillers (co codamol) left over from surgery I had on my knee last year. I've finally caved in and taken some because the pain is excruciating. Right now it's about a 4 but at times it reaches 10 I'm on all fours screaming and crying.

Not sure what to do, I've scared myself with searches about ectopic pregnancies.

Ive had 2 kids before this, never experienced this. No bleeding

I had this early in my pregnancy. I went to A&E. Suspected ectopic. Turned out to be a kidney infection.

I'm sorry that you're in pain. When you say that you're 4,5 weeks pregnant are you dating that from your last period? Was your period due just three or four days ago? If so then it is very unlikely that the pain you are experiencing is from an ectopic pregnancy as the pregnancy would be too small to cause those symptoms now. Also the fact that the pain has gone up to a 10 then receded and then come back again would also suggest that it is not an ectopic.

However if you are in as much pain as you describe then you need to get it checked out. As a PP suggested it is far more likely to be a UTI than an ectopic. Please go and get seen today.

Please go and be seen by a doctor. I had this in early pregnancy and had to have an emergency laparoscopy as they suspected it was ectopic. It was not ectopic, but the surgeon found loads of endometriosis which was causing this pain. The pain reduced over the next week or so and I went on to have a healthy pregnancy.

Also the fact that the pain has gone up to a 10 then receded and then come back again would also suggest that it is not an ectopic.

This is utter rubbish. Pain associated with an ectopic can come and go. I was so bad I collapsed, but by the time I got to the hospital the pain was far better to the extent that I thought about going home.

Please don't give uninformed bad advice for something so serious.

Please go to A&E OP. It may not be an ectopic, but you need to be checked out.
