Changes in babies movements- what should I do?

Hi Girls- am currently 36+4 and today I have had very little movement from baby, and the movements I have had have been very weak. Usually he (i say he but no idea of the sex) is Very active and I constantly feel like a punchbag. I had a really uncomfortable night with loads of back ache and what I assume were BHs (low cramps in my abdomen). Even when I lay down or do the usual things I do to make it move it won't really. I'm thinking maybe the uncomfy night was baby shifting into a new position which is why I can hardly feel anything today.
So, do I call MW or the hospital, or am I over reacting? I'm usually the first to give advice on this sort of thing but now its actually me I'm not sure!

Thanks
PPS x

princess, baby could have moved or dropped and is now big, so not much room for movement. see your mw for somne reassurance, but probably fine

I had this and called the MW. they told me to go to the local monitoring unit and of course all was fine, but its just not worth taking the risk if you havent felt anything.

good luck

hi pps , i am on an anxiety week myself this week !! so can sympathise, have you called your midwife? or could you pop in and see her? i have days when my baby doesn't move alot and it is a horrible worry, [i'm 37 weeks today] give her a call as i'm sure it'll help let us know how you get on . xx

Hi all
thanks for the advice. Called my MW who in turn told me to call day assessment unit. I've got to pop up there in the next hour to be monitored. I'm sure all OK but best to be safe.
Thanks again will let you know how I get on (the little bugger will probably have a rave or something when I get there!)x

Hello all- little update.
As predicted as soon as attached to monitor LO started moving! In fact we ended up there on the monitor for 50 mins instead of 10-20 as he/she kept on moving away from the sensor so the heartbeat kept on being lost!

Thanks again for your advice girls

A much relieved PPS XX

Glad to hear it PPS, nothing guaranteed to get baby moving more than a trip to a monitoring unit!!
