38+2 today and just wondering if you mummys who have older children felt any different the day before you went into labour? I know it's all different for everyone, I'm just curious Smile

OP posts:

Nope! I had a midwife appointment that morning and she had no idea I was going to go into labour a few hours later.

BonBonVoyage · 21/12/2018 13:40

Nope, I was in the hospital for my weekly check. Student doctor. Supervisor asked if he thought bump had dropped (or something to that effect). Student said no, supervisor agreed and said see you next week. I was back in less than 24 hours!

IRememberSoIDo · 21/12/2018 13:48

No and even the day both were born I felt normal then things suddenly started.

TokyoSushi · 21/12/2018 13:50

Nope, just massive & pregnant but not different. Went to bed as normal and then woke to a massive pain and my waters breaking at 3am

Rodent01 · 21/12/2018 13:59

Felt totally normal, cross as I was 2 days over, DD1 was 4 and impatient that the date she was going to have a baby sister on had passed by and we were still waiting. Got my 10,000 steps up to nursery and back, went to bed as normal, waters went at 6am, she was born 9.42!

JustSanta10 · 21/12/2018 13:59

Nope felt completely fine and woke up at 7 in the morning thinking I was peeing myself Blush turned out it was my waters breaking!

Nquartz · 21/12/2018 14:01

Just felt tired and a bit unwell. Was meant to get my legs and bikini waxed but cancelled the appointment. When I was all drugged up i kept apologising to the mid wife for my hair lady garden!

WinkysTeatowel · 21/12/2018 14:09

Yes, had a bit of back ache and a feeling that things were on the move. Went into labour that evening, baby arrived in the night.

Singerleon · 21/12/2018 14:09

No! Felt totally normal and nothing out of the ordinary until my waters suddenly broke with no warning. I was 37+6

Willow1992 · 21/12/2018 14:19

TMI warning
One thing I had which I found is very common after googling it, is after having problems with constipation all through my pregnancy I suddenly got the runs a day or two before labour. Apparently it's your body trying to 'empty out' in preparation for birth.

My labour came on gradually, started with a twinge feeling like mild period pains and then progressed over a couple of days until I was sure they were contractions! It's quite hard to put my finger on when labour actually started. I lost my mucus plug a day or two before actually going into labour as well.

AndromedaPerseus · 21/12/2018 14:24

More grumpy and tired than usual with my second and third dc with my first dc felt the overwhelming urge to wash all the curtains

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 21/12/2018 19:56

My baby cane at 38+4 - the day before I knew nothing was about to happen and genuinely thought I had two weeks to go!

Rhubarbisevil · 21/12/2018 20:00

I felt normal but I accidentally let the front door swing shut and lock me out. My local police were very obliging and drive me to a friend’s office to pick up her keys to let me into her flat to get a spare copy of my front door key. The police were fabulous but this was 20years ago so I doubt they’d have time to do this now.

I'm a FTM and 31 weeks today so would be a little earlier than I'd like if something is happening but I feel strange this evening, I got this feeling like I need to be prepared but can't put my finger on what lol

Hellolittlesunshinexxx · 21/12/2018 20:07

I was 38+5 when I had my baby. I was fine throughout my pregnancy with the usual symptoms. Like feeling tired etc. I usually go to bed relatively early like 10pm but at weekends i often stay up later (if I can keep my eyes open!) with my husband and we'll watch a film or something. Anyway we did this the night before and I actually said "today is the first day I properly feel pregnant. I just can't get comfy!) The next day at 8am my waters went.

happytoday73 · 21/12/2018 20:10

couldn't sit still day before... mum commented to dad on way home that I'd be early and likely that weekend....
I had a fabulous relaxing day before went into labour that evening. I remember feeling very happy & calm.

icannotremember · 21/12/2018 20:18

With my second and third I was very sleepy and slow the day before.

teacuptale · 21/12/2018 21:03

Looking back, the only thing different was that I had a surge of energy to go for a walk that evening and I walked quite a long way. My waters broke very early the next morning.

I was in slow labour for 2 weeks before DS deigned to show his face. I thought he would never leave the womb, so I opted for a night out dancing to try and encourage him out. It worked and active labour started the next night. He was 3 days late.

WendyCope · 21/12/2018 21:11

I felt definitely very grumpy. I refused to speak to my wonderful SIL on the phone, made an excuse. I remember it clearly. Grumpy and tired. Grin

YesitsJacqueline · 21/12/2018 21:14

I was constipated for the first time in my pregnancy, I was 42 weeks and about to be induced ! My midwife suggested it was ok to take movicol. The next evening I had a 2 hour labour and nearly had ds on the toilet !

YesitsJacqueline · 21/12/2018 21:15

Sorry 40 + 10 to be exact

emma911030 · 21/12/2018 21:22

@Handsoffmysweets I like the sound of that, I like to be clean and tidy but cleaning isn't my fave activity in the world so I've been strangely looking forward to this bit. Although can't get too prepared as we will be moving house just before or just after baby is due but won't know for another few weeks which it will be! I'll happily nest all day in my new home lol

MumsKnitters · 21/12/2018 21:28

I always go mad cleaning the house the day before labour. I get a sudden need to clean skirtings when usually I can ignore them for years.
