Getting away with morning sickness while working in the community

I am nearly 7 weeks pregnant and feel nauseous on and off through out the day. I'm off work at the moment on A/L but I'm dreading going back next week... I am a community NHS worker so I drive round and visit patients in their own homes all day, often doing exercises etc.

Its worse when I move about and I'm having to spit out a lot of excess saliva. How am I meant to cope with this in the car / at people's homes when often I've not met them before? People's homes are not always very clean to use their bathrooms etc...

Does anyone have any advice or in the same situation?

I didn't really want to tell my manager yet as its so early but I'm wondering if I should do and perhaps ask to be more office based until its passed?

I have no idea. I haven't left the house for over three weeks (10 weeks pregnant). Sorry that's not more helpful!

This was also my job and I had horrendous morning sickness, I had to get medication in the end to help control it, I found something light and fizzy like lemonade helped to take small sips of too and most of my service users didn't bat an eyelid if I carried it everywhere with me. I just used to say I had a bit of a tickly cough.

I did however keep a few nappy sacks in my glove box and unfortunately after dealing with bodily fluids would have to sit in my car and throw up into a bag a few time!!

Grab some extra emesis bowls from work and have a carrier bag, water, gum, mints and wet wipes in the car!

I actually found I didn't vomit unless I could, but an emesis bowl with blue paper in was useful for the excess saliva!

Get your doctor to give you anti sickness tablets

Do you come in to contact with infectious disease in your role (knowingly?). I had to tell my boss as I work in community and hospital, my risk assessment advised not to visit certain wards or clients with specific conditions.

I will get some sick bags or nappy sacks just in case...more for the saliva than anything!
Thanks for the lemonade tip will try that too. I've not found any one thing that helps yet, as what helped one day makes me gag the next. Even plain water has occasionally made me gag.
Would the doctors consider anti sickness tablets if you're not actually being sick? At the moment it's just nausea but still pretty awful all the same. Kind of wish I'd just throw up and feel better!

We should know about any infectious diseases before we go out so I'm going to get some advice from infection control about what I can and can't go near.
