Nerve pain in outer thigh

For the past week or so I have had strong, sharp nerve pain on the outside of my left thigh when I walk. I'm more than six months pregnant and gather it's the weight. I told an osteopath I saw last week for other things but she said there wasn't much she could do. Has anyone had this? Is there any thing I can do?

I have this, apparently it's most likely the baby pressing on your sciatic nerve. I was told there isn't much that can be done medially but posture can help. Imagine nestling your bump into the curve of your spine - it should help bring your hips back. I'm finding a bump support band also makes a small difference. I'm also in the market for tips so will be watching with interest!

I've ordered a support band now, thanks. The pain is so sharp when I walk and I couldn't sleep last night trying not to roll on that side.

Sciatica.

Had it in my bum around 34weeks and now my inner thigh at 41 weeks.

I found the more I’m on my feet the worse it is by the evening I’m hobbling around wincing at the stabbing pains.

Not sure there is much that can be done but you might find it stops when baby shifts position or moves down.

I didn't know it was sciatica as I thought that was at the back of the leg. I have a boisterous toddler who doesn't let me sit down which makes it worse.

Hello I'm back. I'm now wondering if I call the midwife and ask for urgent physio referral if that might help? The pain is bad when I walk and my two year old doesn't let me sit.

Hello, do mention it to your midwife. I have the same, though only at night and for a while in the morning after I get up. It's agony, you have my sympathy.

My midwife referred me for physio and acupuncture. Haven't been for physio yet but the acupuncture possibly helped a bit. Using a maternity pillow at night helps a bit too, but I'm not sure why.

From what I've heard it is unlikely to go away until after the birth but it's worth trying different options.

Sciatica is normally at the back.

Is it meralgia paraesthetica - have a google. Physio will help.

However I was referred for nhs physio at 20 weeks pregnant - currently 34 weeks and no sign of it! So don't waste your time / just go private!

I have it at the back the past two days now. I called the midwives to ask for urgent physio referral and they said I have to go to the GP. I will go and ask if physio will definitely it's help as I have Bupa but will need to pay £200 excess so it needs to work
