Giving birth on Quentiapine

I’m currently 38+6 and I take anxiety medication that knocks me out and sedated me, I’m so worried that I’m gonna sleep through my waters breaking or not realise I’m having contractions until it’s too late to realise or if I do notice that I’m too sedated while giving birth. Any other mums on quentiapine that can settle my mind?? Its making me not want to take my tablets!

Hi OP
I was on Quetiapine. A dose of 300mg but I made the decision to come off it before TTC.
I know what you mean about the sedation side of it. It does make you very sleepy.
I found that within half hour of taking it, trying to keep my eyes open would result in me becoming very restless and sicky and then if I needed to get up in the night for any reason, I would be like a zombie, stumbling around and slurring my words.
It was one of the things that concerned me about staying on it during pregnancy and having a newborn.
But after speaking to the perinatal team about wanting to stay of the medication due to this fear of thinking I might not wake up if he’s crying, and because I want to breast feed, she assured me that a mother’s instinct wouldn’t let that happen. That apparently alot of new mothers express their concern on this matter but they needn’t worry. I’m sure that it will be the same case with something like your waters breaking. And the adrenaline of giving birth I’m sure would knock out any effects of the medication x
