Hello! I'm currently 9+1 and for the past couple of days it feels like my head is going to explode. It's particularly bad when I bend down. Paracetamol isn't totally getting rid of the pain.
I've been feeling so sick the past few weeks I don't think I'm drinking enough. So probably dehydration too.
I've resorted to Dr Google in the night and am now really worried. Does this sound like a typical pregnancy headache? This is my second pregnancy and it's just so different- it's going to be a long 9 months!!

You start producing a lot more blood during pregnancy which can make you feel quite lightheaded and gave me a few headaches.

Keep hydrated and take it easy. If it isn’t getting better, let your midwife know xx

I suffer badly with headaches during pregnancy. Apparently they are quite a common reaction to the hormones. Mine can go on for days and paracetamol doesn't take them away entirely although it helps a bit.

It is definitely worth checking in with your GP or midwife to be sure that they are only a pregnancy symptom but assuming they are I found the following helpful:

  1. 4head sticks that you rub on your head;
  2. the migraine sticky patches that are cooling;
  3. a warm heat bag round the back of my neck;
  4. resting as much as possible;
  5. drinking a can of coke when I take the painkillers

I feel for you, it's hard work having a headache all the time!

If it’s a dehydration headache, you might find that drinking some oral rehydration stuff helps. Dioralyte is my favourite, and Lucozade do a non-fizzy sports drink without much sugar, but with plenty of electrolytes. I prefer the citrus one!

Thanks for advice. Got so bad today I've just been to the walk-in as I could barely function and nothing would shift the pain.
Dr did thorough check inc light in eyes. Diagnosed it as hormonal and tension. Prescribed codeine which is safe in pregnancy. I'm so reluctant to take anything but I've had to give in. He then said to rest and do lots of relaxation. I told him I had a 16 month little boy. Oh how we both laughed...Confused

Oh gosh I feel for you, I had horrendous is headaches with my daughter. It's completely debilitating. I found they got more manageable as my pregnancy progressed, never totally went away but became more like normal ones. Hope you find yours get better in a few days/weeks as your hormones adjust

These are 100% what I get when I have hormonal headaches. Get them reasonably often mid cycle. Had one on implantation. And have had one or two so far (18 weeks). I used to take both paracetamol & ibuprofen together when not pregnant and you’re right - paras on their own don’t get rid of it. It will pass but you have my sympathies!

So sorry you've all experienced this too. Just horrendous! Honestly, if this was my first pregnancy I'm not entirely sure there would be a second!! I'm literally broken this time around

I get this every time I have a period and also suffered terribly with this in my first pregnancy for months. Eventually I went to acupuncture and this worked for me. I'm on my second pregnancy now and haven't had the headaches, I have nausea instead but I much prefer this and having a clear head! I hope you get some relief soonSmile

I had this at a similar stage to you... I'm pleased to say it did ease off and go. Hope you feel better soon :)
