Reusable nappies

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just thought of something so looking for advice. I'm pregnant with DC1.
I'm planning on using reusable nappies. I've looked into it all, haven't made any purchases yet though.
Anyway, most people have told me that I should flush the poo (if possible) then put the rest in the nappy bin for washing. Fine.
But....what do I do with the poo while changing baby. Just leave it on the side, clean baby, carry baby and nappy to the toilet (and hope none leaks!) for flushing then go back and bin the nappy. Or is there something really obvious I'm missing? 😂.

I wouldn't worry too much - the poo won't be flushable until weaning and possibly not even then straight away! I tended to change the baby completely and then take the dirty nappy to the toilet to flush the poo, then put the nappy in the nappy bucket.

No you are not missing anything - dealing with the poos is the worst, especially once they are weaned. I only used cloth with mine once they were older but with a newborn I would have changed baby then put baby in sling or down in bouncy chair or anywhere safe then sorted nappy. Much trickier once they are on their feet and trying to 'help'!! Good luck and don't be afraid to use a mixture of disposables and cloth depending how you get on - it doesn't have to be either/or (same applies to many aspects of parenting - no need to agonize over purees Vs BLW, spoon-feed soft things and give other things as finger food).

You can get flushable liners for the nappies which makes it a little easier but we found they were terrible when they had nappy rash as they chaffed and made it worse so switched to the washable fleece liners.

Don't worry too much about the mechanics, you'll get a system going. Before DS was mobile we had the nappy bin (a lockable keep the smell in one) next to the changing table and it was really easy. Then he became mobile and is now obsessed by the nappy bucket and his dirty nappies 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thanks all.
Eeek! There's so much to think about!! I think doing a mix of both (disposables when visiting family then at night when the little one gets bigger)
