Strange one but do blueberries turn your vomit bright pink?

I don't know but if you have any uncertainty that it could be blood I'd get checked out. It's the sort of that normally I'd leave and see if it got better but in pregnancy I wouldn't want to take any changes.

So many typos Blush most important one being 'wouldn't take any chances

Not in my experience... but maybe if you'd digested them a fair bit??? But again, not in my experience.

Thanks I ate them at 10 and got sick and 11.30 and 1.30 bright pink both times. I'm still early 1st trimester so putting it down to morning sickness

I’d pop along to the gp today tbh.
Blueberries aren’t pink inside and the skins stay relatively whole generally- so no my necessarily convinced they’d make your vomit pink.
Hope you’re okay!

Yes! I had some in cereal then had a major spew and it was pinky/purple.

Lou1984 · 13/12/2018 14:50

Sorry - I meant I had cereal which I topped with blueberries...

Bunnymumma · 13/12/2018 14:58

Yup! I had a neon pink blueberry 1st trimester like sesh! Not sad to be in the second!!

Iloveeating · 13/12/2018 15:06

Thanks everyone! I think it's the blueberries too. Never had morning sickness previous pregnancies and only 6 weeks now so all new to me.

Yes I had the same thing.
early in my first trimester I was eating oatmeal with blueberries and yogurt
and I would throw up just the blueberries for some reason. It was scary bc it was pinkish and looked like light blood but when you mush a blueberry you can see the inside is pink. I stopped eating blueberries and it stopped happening

Yes, so does beetroot!

It's a long time since I was pregnant but fairly recently I ate blueberries and they gave me horrible stomach pain and diarrhoea. So I googled them and discovered that you can be allergic to them and they shouldn't be given to babies under 9 months old, so maybe eating them when pregnant is relevant? Here's the list of potential reactions:

Blueberries contain salicylates, which are natural-occurring chemicals in plants. This compound is what causes most allergic reactions to blueberries. Salicylates are found in other foods and products so if you are found to be allergic, consider staying away from products that contain salicylates.

While fresh blueberries may have a slightly laxative effect upon the body, when dried they are astringent and commonly used in the treatment of diarrhea, cystitis, and similar ailments.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction to blueberries may be:

Itching
Swelling
Hives, swelling, or redness
Abdominal pain
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea

Runny or stuffy nose
Coughing
Sneezing
Wheezing
Difficulty breathing
Drop-in blood pressure
Lightheadedness
Fainting
Anaphylaxis (rare life-threatening allergic reaction)
