BFP but hardly any symptoms - is this normal?

Hi everyone,

Got my BFP on Sunday and have continued to since then (really strong ones!!) but if I'm honest I really don't have a lot of symptoms.

I had a mc last year and before I tested I had every** symptom under the sun and knew about 5dpo I was definitely pregnant.

The only reason I tested this month was because I had some OPKs lying about and I thought I'd try one and see what happened as I've heard sometimes they can pick up pregnancy hormone...
I've been feeling quite tired, sore nipples but not much else.

I'm feeling nervous incase this means something is wrong, I'm also having quite a bit of cramping on off throughout the day and backache. Is this normal?? It's making me worried!

Just feel like such a bag of nerves at the minute after such a hard 12 months with a mc and a chemical it really would be a dream come true for this to be the real deal and a sticky bean 🤞🏻
I'm not having any major spotting except the odd slight tinge when wiping after peeing but I haven't seen any today, is all this normal too!?

Any advice or experiences would be so appreciated as I feel quite alone, my GP really wasn't much help x

Normal. Symptoms kick in around 6 weeks.

mortifiedmama · 12/12/2018 22:16

And my worst and earliest symptoms resulted in miscarriage.

Ozziewozzie · 12/12/2018 22:23

With each of my pregnancies, al have been different. With my last one, I had no symptoms at all except cramping. She’s now 9 months old. My baby before that, I had really sore nipples. I think symptoms ie food aversion can start early, but again not for everyone.
Some people have no idea they are pregnant for ages, with lack of symptoms, so try not to worry. X

I'm almost 15 weeks and I still haven't had any symptoms! Except I've had achey boobs for a few weeks and felt tired. But had no sickness, nothing.

SingingSands · 12/12/2018 22:29

I had absolutely no symptoms with my 2nd. I had ALL the symptoms with my first.

Really bizarre, but a very easy pregnancy!

Namelesswonder · 12/12/2018 22:30

Every pregnancy is different. DD2 I didn’t realize I was pregnant till 9 weeks as no symptoms at all.

emma911030 · 12/12/2018 22:34

My only real symptoms before 6/7 weeks was absolute exhaustion luckily I wasn't working at the time cause I really really struggled to get out of bed on a morning, my partner was starting to get a bit pissy cause I was being so lazy and getting next to nothing useful done, and then I had quite sore boobs. I'm not 29+4 and so far so good. From about 7 weeks ish I was getting really bad back pain to add to the exhaustion.

emma911030 · 12/12/2018 22:35

*I'm now 29+4

webster144 · 13/12/2018 07:56

Thanks everyone who replied, this has somewhat reassured me! I'm just unsure if this is all normal as all I know is the symptoms I had before led eventually to a mc and I'm just incredibly aware of everything I'm feeling this time around.

Thanks for sharing your experiences x

I felt the same, no symptoms at all until 6 weeks. I actually had no sore boobs at all, whereas they always super painful during the 2 week wait as well as when I had a chemical pregnancy. Of course I googled the hell out of it and found lots of women saying a lack of sore boobs was a sign for them! In week 6 they started to hurt, and I had a few days of queeziness but not much at all. I'm now 7+2 and feel quite tired and emotional, but a lot of that is nerves I'm sure! If I hadn't been trying, I certainly wouldn't have known just from the symptoms. I think it's completely normal, there's just a lot of variability.

Gobletoffire · 13/12/2018 15:38

Sorry to hear about your previous miscarriage OP. Try not to worry though, every pregnancy is different. Other than a strong sense of smell I had no symptoms at first, I didn’t even start feeling sick until week 12 when it usually starts to pass for most people! Congratulations on your pregnancy x

TheSubtleKnifeAndFork · 13/12/2018 16:06

Totally normal. Some preganancies are symptom free all the way through (Envy

ItIsChristmasTime · 13/12/2018 16:07

I’m still waiting for my symptoms to kick in and I’m half way through!

Grumpos · 13/12/2018 16:36

No symptoms other than a missed period, eventual weight gain and heartburn in the 2nd half.
There’s a big chubby baby laid next to me right now so yes lack of “symptoms” can be absolutely fine and normal (whatever normal means Smile )

MeOldChina · 13/12/2018 17:13

I had very few symptoms all the way through, apart from the usual aches towards the end. I was very lucky.

Proudmumm · 13/12/2018 18:08

All I have is super tender breasts and I’m 7 weeks I also miscarried in April so this time I’m super worried the same may happen with checking toilet paper every time I pee, and every niggly pain worries me. But to be honest my first pregnancy I had identical twins and had absolutely no symptoms when technically the drs say it’s should be twice as bad, think our minds just go into overdrive in the worry it may happen.
Good luck with everything and I pray we will both be fine xx

Thankyou everyone who has replied further, it's been really nice to know this is what is considered "normal"...I'm still having a fair bit of cramping and backache but have been trying to take it easy and not stress myself out about it!

Thanks for all the lovely comments, really calmed my nerves 🤞🏻x
