Hi Everyone
First post and first pregnancy here.
I’m 8+6 and have been exhausted and sick since week 5. I can just fall asleep anytime, anywhere. The sickness is terrible and I have been sick several times on buses and the like.

Also desperately trying to learn to drive but have to keep cancelling lessons even though i am so close to booking my test as I am so ill. Is this normal? I have heard it can be this bad with multiples and my mum had two sets on non-identical twins and I am a twin myselfBlush

I work full time but had to take the day lff today as I have gallbldder issues (was scheduled for surgery which won’t be happening now, this wasn’t a planned pregnancy)

Lots to read just feeling a bit worried and wondering what to do. My first midwife appointment is on the 21st so I will be 10 weeks then.

Completely 100% normal I'm afraid.

As a society we minimise morning sickness, and yes, some lucky women get away with just feeling a bit rough or not feeling anything, but for most, it's pretty horrible.

Some women with HG end up repeatedly in hospital on drips because they vomit so much they can't even keep water down (sometimes 30+ times a day). For me, it was like the quease/exhaustion of norovirus with just occasional puking (which actually helped). It had me in tears but I think I was fairly average.

I fell asleep even whilst minding my toddler, and for a while went to bed at 8pm every night. Totally normal. It was hard with my first, it was much worse with a toddler to look after (and working).

It passed by about 14-15 weeks, though even at 21 weeks I still get the occasional queasy wave and vomit occasionally.

You will get through it, just take it one day at a time. There are medications which can help, your doctor may be wiling to prescribe them, but unless you are being persistently sick and loosing lots of weight, then many are reluctant.

One day, you will cuddle your baby and realise that it was worth it. Hold on to that, rest as much as you can, and ride it out. It should pass in what will seem like an intolerably long time.

As much as it sucks, it sounds like normal pregnancy symptoms to me... I wouldn't worry at all.

Just look after yourself as best you can, rest as much as possible and eat little but often.

The only time you need to worry is if you're in severe pain or bleeding.

Hope you feel better soon :)

P.S I've had the same symptoms and I only have one baby ;-)

cowchickenduckdog · 12/12/2018 14:54

Hi, I had the same and I'm only carrying one. I'm 16 +3 now and it's only just wearing off (nausea) but still feel dead on my feet! Never been this constantly tired in my life before!! Sorry can't be more help but I can empathise xxxx

Hi @Amelia910

Firstly congrats!

If the sickness and naeusa is affecting your daily life I’d definately get in touch with your GP well before the 21st when you see your midwife. She won’t be able to prescribe anything and just tell you to speak to your GP. So it’s definitely worth thinking about, there’s lots of safe medication which will be able to help.

I’m 22 weeks and the vomiting has finally stopped (yay) but the naeusa is still here for me, I’m on Ondansetron which is helping me keep food down as I was sick a lot during week 6 - 21. There’s a fab thread on here called Hyperemesis Gravidarum this helped me but I only discovered it around 3 weeks ago! Lots of surportive ladies who have tips for HG or brutal morning sickness. They know all the medication routes too, from memory your GP may provide you with Cyclizine this is the more common medication however it didn’t agree with me so don’t worry if that’s not strong enough there are others.

Things which I managed to keep down/helped the naesua were ice lollies, peppermint tea, lemon sherbets & mints. Don’t suffer tho! And I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Sorry the thread is called Hyperemesis Support
