Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if anyone know's anything that will help? I've been signed off work with hyperemesis gravidarum and put on cyclizine which finally today after nearly a week seems to have helped. I'm eating small amounts of cold food (with no aroma!) as often as I can but (tmi) my mouth is just continuously filling with saliva. I can't keep swallowing it as it makes me sick but continuously spitting into a cup just doesn't seem like a good solution either. It interferes with my sleep as well making it difficult to get to sleep and waking me up in the night. Any tips or tricks I'm missing that would help would be so gratefully received Thanks

Oh I had this! I’m sorry but I didn’t find anything that helped me. Just continually sipping through a straw and swallowing with water, or lemonade in my case. It did ease off towards the end of the second trimester. I had to have a towel to spit into. It’s just another horrible side effect of Hyperemesis. I know exactly how you feel. I never tried sucking on a boiled sweet through, that may help?

I had v bad morning sickness (though not HG) and I had this constantly. I just kept spitting, I had a little spittoon sitting by me all the time. It’s not glam, is it?!

Im sorry to hear about your condition, I hope it passes quickly for you! For me the excessive saliva has always been a symptom of nausea, even before I was pregnant. I am thinking it's your body's way of protecting you from stomach acid maybe. Unfortunately, spitting for me has always been the most effective relief, and it's free. You might want to try swilling your mouth with water too. Sorry this doesn't provide a useful solution, but i Hope you will feel better about what your doing.
