Hey all,
I’m typing this whilst baby is hiccuping away😍
My husband and I were talking about it and then he put it in my head that due to a low placenta baby hiccuping can be dangerous. Tried to find something on google to reassure me
It’s ok but nothing. Does anyone have any knowledge on this?

There's nothing to find because it's a non-issue.

Hiccuping is a result of the baby learning to breathe. Perfectly natural and lovely!

Never heard anything about a low placenta making it dangerous, but your midwife will be more reassuring than we are I’m sure :)

My baby had the worst hiccups throughout pregnancy and still gets them fairly often now at 2 and a half. He did also have reflux once born and a friend with a newbie had the same experience (i.e. there could be a link between the two) so just be prepared for that but don't let is stress you out - it passes after a few months and doesn't hurt them.

My dd hiccuped frequently throughput my pregnancy. Nothing happened as a consequence of this. No reflux either (based on what another pp mentioned).

Mine was getting hiccups up to 5 times a day. Mentioned it to MW as I had also read somewhere it could be an issue with the cord not transporting oxygen to the baby efficiently enough. Midwife said it was fine and normal x

I should mention that I also had low placenta and I don't see how the combination could be of concern.

Tell him not to worry, there's no risk, hiccups are natural!

My DS had hiccups 3x a day before he was born, I loved it! (And zero issues once born, hiccups do not cause reflux).

Nothing in it at all (GP).
My first used to hiccup all the time!

SoyDora · 10/12/2018 18:32

Where did he get that from? How would hiccups be dangerous due to a low placenta? Did he just make it up? Confused
I’m a bit confused. There’s nothing to find online because it’s not an issue.

How can you tell if they’re hiccuping? What does it feel like? FTM so everything is totally new lol Smile
