What to expect from anti natal health visitor visit

So I have health visitor coming tomorrow morning, she said it’s just to introduce herself and will take about half an hour.

Does anyone know what she will go through? Will she want to see where Baby will be sleeping (ie; do I need to make sure my bedroom is tidy! Lol).

Just not sure what to expect really?

I’m assuming baby isn’t born yet?

I had my initial meeting with the health visitor at the local children’s centre, so I don’t think there’s a requirement to see the baby’s room. They will probably just advise you on safe sleep.

From what I can remember they will ask questions about your past and any partners past ie any abuse, and they will ask about smoking. They will also check in on any feeding guidance you may want. I got lots of leaflets and was asked if I had any questions.
It was fairly informal and quick. Just a getting to know you meeting.

Mine was pretty pointless. She gave me a link to a website with information on (said they don’t do leaflets anymore, fair enough), asked how I was planning to feed, told me what contact to expect after the birth and that was it. Didn’t go upstairs or anything (good job really as the baby didn’t have anywhere to sleep at that point).

Got my first visit tomorrow too. Totally chilled about it. Definitely not manically cleaning the house at all Blush

I cleaned the entire house. She sat at our kitchen table for the whole visit. Gutted!

Mine didn't leave the lounge... we had a chat, talked about feeding and whether I needed anything. I filled out a few forms and had a cup of tea then she left.

Ok thanks everyone.

No baby not here yet, going in to be induced Friday. A lot of those questions the midwife went through at booking.

That’s good to know then, won’t worry about manically cleaning upstairs then! Ha ha!

Thanks for all the replies x

For my children it was definitely just a introductory meeting... The impression I got is they are just checking no major issues.... be it baby's health, your physical/mental health, what support network you have and any bigger issues like no heating, no fridge, really unsanitary env, illegal drugs or DV etc.
Obvioisly some are better than others... but please don't see it as a inspection...my mum's thoughts on the matter..... I found them friendly & a real help when I was sick a week or so after first birth.
they are good for finding out about mother and baby classes locally if nothing else!

Mine mostly sat in the lounge, talked through some leaflets on feeding etc, told me about the services at the children's centre, told me about the health visitor visits I could expect, gave me the red book and asked to see where baby would be sleeping
