So im thinking about my hospital bag, and i know ill need liners but do they specifically have to be maternity pads?
One of the girls i work with said Always wont be good enough, but so far one of the differences ive read is always normal are thin and maternity pad are thicker...
So would Always night or Kotex night work just as well??

I friggen HATE wearing pads, can never position it properly and quite frankly think im wearing a nappy, so I havent bought them since i was 11 (im 25 now) so just looking for a bit advice as its been a while!

P.s if youve got anymore hospital bag tips im all ears! Feeling totally overwhelmed with options!

Asda were the best IME.

I used Boots disposable incontinence pants on the advice of the NCT teacher and it was a great idea. The bleeding was around 10 times as heavy as a period.

I used the hospital ones while I was in there, then switched to Tesco ultra slim maternity pads. They are no thicker than normal pads but a bit longer. I found them really good actually and haven’t had a single leak even on days when it has been really heavy.
I think I’m going to start using them for my periods seeing as they are unscented which is like a holy grail for sanpro.

@costacoffeecup I've just had a c-section 11 days ago and can totally recommend Boots own version of Tena pants. They're pretty ugly but catch everything that they need to, and come up sufficiently high so they don't aggravate the scar.

I never got on with the maternity pads but the pants have been brilliant and so much easier. No leaks, no mess!

Boots maternity pads - lovely and soft and the padded thickness helped to cushion my stitches.

I'm really not a fan of pads for periods, but found PP bleeding a different matter.

@mumsolihull how have you found their sizing?
I’m having a c-section in a few weeks and plan on using Boots or Tena pants too. My midwife said they were less faffy post op. but she did also say some people have to use then with a maternity pad too? Any thoughts?

Definitely recommend maternity pads. I used the boots ones and the extra padding were a godsend. They are less sweaty than normal pads too

kmreeve · 09/12/2018 19:24

I used tenna lady pads with my last, they were fabulously soft and have a slight curve which meant they fit better.. Iv already stocked up again for this time around x

Boots. Same for breast pads. This time around I’ve had issues with Asda Brest pads leaving my nipples really dry and peeling. Then the sling gets stuck to the pad and bleeds. It’s just all round nasty. Doesn’t happen with the boots ones.

Another vote for Boots maternity pads.

I used the thick pads at first and then switched to slimline, finding slimline much more comfortable to sit on with stitches.

Boots slimline breast pads are also great, they're contoured well (I found them better than Lansinoh, Tesco or Sainsbury's).

Mothercare with aloe were fab!

Theweasleytwins · 09/12/2018 20:53

My mil obtained some great ones for me- iDelight? Some sort of massive incontinence pad i think?

Howareya123 · 09/12/2018 20:55

Always have a plastic bag which makes everything a bit sweaty!!! Not good for stitches or tears as it can get quite itchy. I found that out the hard way😱

Shireslass · 09/12/2018 20:57

Boots and Sainsbury's here. I would def recommend you use them. Normal pads would not have cut it. The maternity ones are very soft too, bulky, but worth it.

Celticlassie · 09/12/2018 21:22

I think I used Boots initially but then switched to Tenaladies as I got free ones in the [whisper] Bounty pack and found them more comfy as they were thinner but better than period ones.
