Baby shoving and stretching, then heard an ominous snapping sound from pelvis... wtf?

I was sitting perfectly still last night while baby was doing some hefty shoving about as if he didn't have enough room. As he was moving behind my pelvis I heard a sharp snapping/cracking sound, a bit like when you flick your nails together iyswim. Definitely came from my pelvis but didn't hurt.

Today my spd has come on with a vengeance, I could barely get out of bed. What has he done?

Has anybody else heard noises coming from down there? Google couldn't tell me anything. Thanks!

you can actually have some serious damage done to your pelvis more serious than spd, can't think of what it's called. All I cn suggest is a trip to the drs/mw tomorrow as a priority

bananabump · 24/06/2007 13:33

Cripes, really?

I actually wondered if he'd clicked one of his own bones for a minute. He's still moving about alright.

So weird.

ds ripped my tummy muscles and i heard them go, sounds similar to what you heard.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 24/06/2007 13:40

Yes I keep hearing popping and slapping sounds down there never had them with DS's been wondering the same thing (wtf) but all seems fine no pain (just alittle discomfort when it happens) baby still moving around like before, and always happens at night!

bananabump · 24/06/2007 13:56

Have you got spd, babymad? I'm beginning to morbidly wonder if he's "forcing" against where the bones join at the front.

Actually I suspect my comment before was stupid, he couldn't click his own bones, could he? They're not formed enough to click against each other.

I have a scan/comsultants appointment tuesday, will mention scary clicking!

NO spd here that I know of, my popping and slapping sound happen when baby is REALLY moving about (at night), is that when your sounds happened?

bananabump · 24/06/2007 14:09

yeah it is, rough little sods aren't they? Can't believe how it's gone from feeling like tiny bubbles tickling barely detectable at 17 weeks to massive gutchurning thumps at 34 weeks!

mil did say something about dp "breaking her breastbone" in utero... I'm a bit skeptical that a baby could kick that high, but I've heard of some babies managing to break their Mums ribs! Hope this baby doesn't copy his Dad anyway!

I'm 34+2, yes this LO puts my 2 DS's to shame, so very rough, It's becoming unbearable for me as at times, really does hurt, and when I get a thud down there it shocks me a little! After you hear your sounds do you hurt any where?

bananabump · 24/06/2007 14:19

No there wasn't any pain at the time, it's odd. Other times in the evening though he was punching downwards (I think) right on my cervix and THAT bloody hurts, like being stabbed up the foof!

This has turned into a general moan. lol

BabyMadandBIGbump · 24/06/2007 14:26

moaning who's moaning oh yes we are LOL, anyway yes it hurts when they thud down there, I cant work my LO out he's (or she) is head down but I get a kick sensation down there but yes bloody does hurt and doesn't happen just one once neither, I'm going to have a nice long chat with this LO when he (or she) comes out and ask them what the hell they were doing!! LOL

bananabump · 24/06/2007 14:37

I have to admit mine was stretching out the other day and I had a big painful lump coming out of my side for ages (I think it was a foot) I got a bit fed up and kinda shoved it back in! Bad mother already, me.

Scan on tuesday, hope to see how he's lying, I may ask the sonographer if his arms are big and meaty enough to make my pelvis crack. lol

I get all the bits, (feet, knees, elbows, hands) on my right side and his (or her) bum right in-between my bust, but for the last few days I had his bits kicking and hitting out around my belly button area, so I think he was OP for a while (back to back baby) like my DS#2, but today he's back to bits being on my right side, thank god, best stay that way as well, lol!

bananabump · 24/06/2007 14:53

Mine sounds exactly the same, he moves around a little, but always seems to be bum up head down these days. Will know for sure soon anyway. I reckon they'll scan me again at term though to check because it's hard for them to identify his position through my stomach flab lol

Can't wait to see him again, he has such a cute perfect little spine and things.

I have a MW app on tue, and a scan to see weather the placenta has moved the following week, than another MW a week after that all these app are coming thick and fast now aren't they, hopeful my placenta has moved so I can have the HB I want. We also cant wait to see our LO again and my 2 DS's are coming to the scan as well, bless!

bananabump · 24/06/2007 15:09

Good luck with the placenta thing, hope you get your homebirth! I fancy one but I can't have one and I'm not arguing because I think it's probably for the best, plus I think they might keep me in a few days after the birth since the consultant was muttering about me taking blood thinners after the birth in case I got clots in my legs. (My legs ARE starting to look rather varicose veiny at the moment- lovely)

They keep forgetting to send me midwives appointments, which is quite nice since all they do is take my bp and send me home again. I still attend my monthly consultant appointments, they do my bp and urine etc then so I know everything's fine. Can't be bothered with fortnightly/weekly checks just yet!

Thanks, And good luck with yours.

I'm going to ask my MW (what a conversation that will be) about the sounds my twinkle (classic from dawn) is making when LO is moving so roughly, see what she makes of it, and you ask about yours next time you get chance, just incase.

I don't think they can do anything as I don't think you can have an x-ray while PG just to check you or baby, your not in any pain and LO is moving around just fine, then I don't think there is any cause for concern (if baby was/is in distress I think it would of started off labour by now?) but all is sounding good and think it mite just be one of them things that we'll never get to the bottom of.

Nice chatting with you hope all is well, I'll come in to "aug tread" and let you know about the conversation I have with MW on tue, LOL!

Nigh on choked on my drink when I read the title, and, after reading a couple of replies, am now convinced that this IS going to happen to me!!!!!!!!!! Get this baby out of me now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ripping stomach muscles? Snapping bones? No-one warned me of THAT?!!!!!!!!!!!!
ARGGGGGHHHHHH!!

agnesnitt · 24/06/2007 21:00

There are days when I feel like I am a bowl of rice crispies because all I can hear from my pelvic area is 'snap, crakle and pop'!

Less than four weeks left now...

Agnes

bananabump · 24/06/2007 21:10

Really agnes? woah. And do you have spd? Have you mentioned it to your doctor/midwife? what did they say if you did?

OP posts:
agnesnitt · 24/06/2007 21:26

Haven't mentioned it really... Although I do have mild SPD, hips and pelvis conspiring against me. The noises don't herald any real pain for the most part, but they can cause a start and some odd discomfort depending on how I am sitting/lying/standing.
