Maternity Clothes

I'm going into London tomorrow to hunt for Maternity clothes. Can anyone let me know where I can find some decent maternity wear on Regent / Bond / Oxford Streets. The online maternity clothes I’ve bought have been totally rubbish (badly designed, thin nasty fabric and very uncomfortable) I’m really struggling to find comfortable maternity clothes this pregnancy. The quality and selection has declined dramatically since my first two pregnancies 5 and 9 years ago. )-:

Seraphine have a few shops in London www.seraphine.com/en-gb/stores

And not sure if it still does but Harrods did have a good selection including Isabella Oliver and some other nice brands

I think also John Lewis on Oxford street is worth checking out!

Thanks so much Olivecake! I lived in my Isabella Oliver stuff the first time round for work, and I'll definitely try out Seraphine. I was hoping not to break the bank this time, but if I want to be comfortable and not look like a dish rag I may need to!

I bought a few pairs of seraphine leggings but ASOS clothes weren’t too bad. I certainly didn’t feel like a dish rag. Maybe I look like one and don’t know it Shock

Not sure where the branches are in London but I've bought a few things from Jojo Maman, they've got some really nice good quality stuff in there. Some of it does look like maternity wear but some doesn't at all - I've ended up with completely different styles to what I'd have worn pre-pregnancy and had loads of compliments. You can feel the fabric and try things on in their shops which I really valued.

I think I bought three dresses and they have pretty much got me through work, combined with my old cardigans and H&M maternity tights (finishing next week!). I hope you find what you are looking for!

The T-shirts and leggings I've bought from GAP and H&M are SO badly cut they feel like I have them on backwards (and no they are not on backwards). The fabric will last about 3 washes before it disintegrates. Really not sure what's going on there.

I don't shop in gap but did make the mistake of buying some leggings in H&M.... they were completely see through Confused I think the cut in H&M generally is pretty poor. Guess their stuff is probably designed for a couple of wears before you move on.

There's a seraphine on Marylebone High Street that only seemed to have their fancier range of clothes when I looked a couple of weeks ago. Same for the maternity selection in John Lewis on Oxford Street - a couple of months ago it had seraphine leggings and jeans and some basic jumpers but last week it only really seemed to have dresses and office wear (mostly seraphine, some isabella Oliver). So it depends what you're after.

Thanks so much everyone for your suggestions. Actually looking forward to this now, (although I should really be Christmas shopping instead, but I can't take being uncomfortable any more!) Going to try out Top Shop in Regent street (I had some really comfortable jeans from Topshop last time that I wore for ages after pregnancy too and looked great), and Seraphine in Kensington High street.

I recently bought 3 pairs of jeans (all I have to wear at the moment) from Jojomamanbebe but they are very uncomfortable and I just about want to cry every time I sit down. They have a thick, hard inch wide inner elastic band inside the top of the bump band which doesn't stay up and rides down and cuts into my bump. When I sit the crotch seams and bump seam dig into me. Torture really. Made for toothpick legs I think, which I am not. xx

I got some seraphine skinny jeans and they are sooo comfy, and the best fitting jeans I've had for a long time, better than non-maternity! I got them online, they were in their outlet section and I got an additional 20% off so they were a bargain.

I am also pregnant with my third child after a bit of a gap since the previous pregnancies. I've found you can't really get much at all in the shops as it is mainly online. Like you, I haven't wanted to spend £££. I've actually had most use out of some non-maternity COS items - an unstructured black dress and a nice long line jumper have been favourites. I found a couple of stretchy Serpahine skirts on eBay and have got some Isabella Oliver tops from eBay too. There is a lot of good stuff on eBay if you have time to look.

DoraNora · 06/12/2018 15:59

Second the Seraphine jeans, they are wonderful and so comfy.

I had two pairs of topshop jeans (one under and one over bump) and BOTH of them were too small for my bump from when I was 6 months pregnantConfused I'm not especially large! Was furious, especially as the seraphine ones were only £10 more (full price) ...

Mooella · 09/12/2018 07:51

Heads up for those still looking for clothes like me, Isabella Oliver is having a 50% off sale online. I got some great basic shirts yesterday. Still need to hunt down some jeans but I'll get into London next week before schools close. (didn't get into London on Friday as it was bucketing down!) xx

Word of warning r.e. IO - their sizing is very generous! I ordered the equivalent of a size 10 and am having to get it exchanged to an 8, a size I haven't been in years! The dress I got is also cut quite long, but because it's got a lot of ruching I can just ruffle it up so it doesn't end at my ankles. So something to bear in mind if you're short!
