Hi...
So last year February I suffered a miscarriage(8 weeks) and then this year June I suffered a miscarriage(5weeks) as well. I found out 3 days ago that I am now 4 weeks along but now I'm panicking a little bit due to the last 2 miscarriages. I don't have any little ones yet but I'm panicking now. My OH says to keep positive thoughts as when you think positively positive things happen but i just can't get the thought out of my head.

I was thinking of buying a fetal monitor so when the heartbeat comes along I can assure myself regularly that it's there....anyone been through this and can give me advice or anyone can just reassure me because I'm panicking and the Dr said it's fine and we will be fine

I had 2 early miscarriages in my early 20s then a successful pregnancy at 36(didn't try in between!)
You'll be fine!
Do not buy a feral monitor it is not helpful, you'll drive yourself mad and you're not qualified to decipher the results, it's not safe.
Good luck 😉

Medical experts really don’t recommend the use of those monitors by untrained people. They can cause extreme distress and worry if you can’t find the heartbeat (which trained professionals can sometimes struggle to do too.)
They can offer false reassurance. Think you’re hearing baby’s heartbeat when you’re hearing your own.
Good luck OP.

Yes, please try to resist the fetal doppler! I had a very similar experience with a MC 5 weeks and a MMC at 10 weeks. I was absolutely convinced that I wanted a doppler for my 3rd pregnancy, however decided to leave it after reading similar advice online. It's really difficult in the early weeks but try to focus on the other things that reassure you that the pregnancy is going well (morning sickness, weight gain, fluttery feelings, round ligament pain which suggests the uterus is growing).

If you're prone to anxiety then hearing the heartbeat won't be reassuring...you'll just worry even more wondering whether it's too fast/slow or whether you've picked up your own by accident.

Don't get one.

I had a bleed at 28 weeks with last pregnancy and the senior midwife took several minutes to find the heartbeat. The look on her face suggested she was expecting the worst. If a professional finds it that hard that far along, it suggests it isn't easy.

The Count The Kicks charity have started a campaign to get the sale of those monitors for domestic use banned. It's been backed by Tommys and a midwifery organisation.

Basically they give can false reassurance where a woman's intuition has been correct and has delayed them seeking medical advice, with some devastating consequences.
