Do you think 4d scans are worth it?

I'm just short of 12 weeks, 12w scan is next week and we have been chatting about getting a private gender scan as they can do it a bit earlier, and the appts are longer than NHS ones (not knocking our amazing NHS, I just like seeing my baby!). One is slightly more expensive and includes a 4d preview. I imagine it'll be on offer in Jan anyway so won't be more expensive then, but wondering if people found it worth it?
I always said I didn't want a 4d scan as I don't want to ruin the surprise of what they look like, but at 16/18 weeks they won't look like the finished product anyway. So just thought I'd see what others thought.

we got a private gender scan at 18 weeks but only as we wanted the balloon etc so got a package which included 'sneak peek in 4d.' im now 37 weeks and would say wait for a 4d scan until atleast after 26 weeks (recommended by the clinic we used) as I must admit there's not a lot to see at this stage and their hands/feet look like fins which freaked me out.

if it isn't being a gender reveal and you're just finding out at the scan, it may be good for them to switch to 4d so you can see the genitals for yourself (I was adamant he was a girl until they showed me Grin)

completely up to you... but after 26 weeks they're amazing, shows you so much detail and great for comparing to your baby photos!

Definitely go for it. I had mine done at 22 weeks and found out gender at same time. Got a few photos ans even have DDs scan as a keyring.

I had a 4D at 28 weeks and tbf I don't think it was worth it and wouldn't bother in future. With regards to people saying excessive scans are dangerous, I was told by midwife each scan temporarily increases the temperature of the amniotic fluid and the effect of this is not known long term. This is why scan times are limited to 10/15 minutes I believe. An additional scan isn't going to cause you any issues but my midwife says concerns arise when people are going in every week for a 4D scan x

Hey, I’m currently 13+5 days pregnant & had dating scan this week. Going to find out the gender of the baby but in meantime wondering if anyone can guess what I’m having.
Been reading online about skull and nub theories, interested in this and just for fun wondering if anyone has any ideas….
