Has anyone recently delivered in Margate under a consultant? Who did you have and would you recommend?

I'm a high risk second time mum and considering using the hospital even though I swore I never would again. So far they have been amazing.
The consultant I've been given isn't actually listed online and I can't find much about him?
But I think he must be new.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I’m just gonna pop myself here as I will be giving birth to my first at Margate Hospital and would like to know what people thought of it! My other option was Ashford but i’ve Heard far too many horror stories and I don’t really want to travel the distance!
So far the hospital have been really good with me, i’ve had to go up a few time for bleeds and I was seen reasonably quickly and they understood my concerns and have given a lot of advice!

I had my son at margate 2.5 years ago
I was treated appallingly in the pregnancy and nearly died. I had some horrendous urology issues and had a nephrostomy (urine bag) for 4 months and I was broken by it

But this time so far they have been incredible

I was thinking of using pembury but the thing is that I will have a c section and it will be long in the car home from there and also if I have another complex pregnancy then the journey there and back will break me because I was in 42 nights from 20 weeks pregnant and it would be too much to repeat it like that this time

So far they have been amazing and the community midwife I have this time Eva is incredible
Are you based in Thanet?

I had DD in Margate but was 4 years ago and midwife led so I'm not sure I can help much! Was fine though.

I am a first timer on shared care based in Canterbury and I am so torn between Ashford/Margate, my parents are closer to Margate if I have to stay but otherwise I really don't know where's best...

Firsttimetobe2019 · 04/12/2018 21:17

@margatemother - I am based in Ramsgate so Margate makes the most sense for me.
I’m sorry to hear you experienced that! I hope everything smooth sailing for you this time around!
They’re always very busy and while i’ve been in the day care unit i’ve seen women treat the midwives like utter crap! One woman refusing to be on a midwife led ward because she doesn’t trust any of them... I was shocked but they do so well and get you in and out as soon as possible.
My friend has recently experienced an issue with them leaving some placenta in her and she’s had over a month of continuous pain and is due for an operation this month!

The last time I visit I had to be checked by the head Doctor for the heavy bleed I experienced; she wasn’t particularly helpful, she used the speculum and literally just said “you’re ok, no sex, be careful” and left the room! I was shocked!

Was that Dr Shortri? Hmm

She's not good

Margatemother - I think it may have been, small foreign lady, didn’t say a lot at all

margatemother · 05/12/2018 13:01

Yes that sounds like her

Imagine having her for your first high risk complex pregnancy like I did

This time they have been amazing but I'm still panicking

Oh no really, what did or didn’t she do?!
When I went last she was the only doctor in and was running around all over the place!

I was labelled as high risk for pre-eclampsia but my consultant signed me off because my midwife had already taken the necessary precautions but if it does go south then i’ll be reassigned to a consultant!

suddenlypanicked · 05/12/2018 14:35

She was appalling

She nearly let me die so many times from infections

She also didn't warn me about a child that would be in withdrawal (which was obvious if you were a medic)
Didn't give steroids

The whole shamozzle

I have a new consultant this time I haven't met him yet

Abdel something i need to check downstairs on paper

suddenlypanicked · 05/12/2018 14:39

Abdelbaset

Firsttimetobe2019 · 05/12/2018 15:27

Oh gosh. That’s disgusting. Can you not request for her not to be involved due to what happened before
Im not sure I’ve never heard of him

suddenlypanicked · 05/12/2018 15:41

I sure did and the midwife was like absolutely you will not have her
