Due date changed

I've just been for a scan and have been told my due date has changed to the 3rd. I had two scans prior to this and have been told my due date was the 11th. Is it possible for my due date to change as both scans before this one had been the same?

What gestation are you at the most recent scan?
If the first few were very early scans and the recent one is the ~12 week dating scan, go with the new date.

The first scan I was 12 weeks. Then I had another at the same hospital. I then had a scan at 38 weeks as I changed hospital. I had told them I had scans prior to this and it was in my blue book but they didn't look at them. It was at the last scan with the new hospital that they changed it.

🤔
They shouldn't be dating it this late. There's so much variation at this stage.
Is there someone you can talk to? Midwife? Are you consultant led?

Having an earlier date might mean they are keen to induce you if you go "overdue" but obviously by your previous dates you wouldn't be overdue.

I would be more concerned if it went the other way, as they might want to leave the baby in for too long past your original due date which would increase the risk to the baby.

That doesn’t sound right to me. Measurements at 38 weeks shouldn’t be used for dating unless that’s the first time a woman had presented for antenatal care and even then they could be weeks out! I’d give your midwife a call to clarify, you don’t want to end up with an unnecessary induction for being ‘overdue’

3rd Dec?? So they're now saying you're due in 2 days time?

Just203 · 01/12/2018 11:46

I don't want to end up being induced unnecessarily. I've seen a few different midwifes and some have gone by the first due date I was given and others by the new one so I am confused as to what date to go by?

Are you midwife or consultant led?
