Prolapse

I’ve not been feeling quite right down below for a couple of weeks and this morning decided I’d properly investigate. I’ve defilitely got something in my vagina that wasn’t there before.

I’m currently pregnant with DC3; DC2 was born earlier this year. It’s been a huge shock as this pregnancy wasn’t planned but now I’ve just got my head around it I’ve now got some sort of vaginal prolapse.

I’m going to visit my doctor on Monday but I was hoping someone had experienced similar that could reassure me it will all be ok and a bit of a hand hold. I’m scared and I don’t think I should experience this so young (mid thirties).

I hope this isn’t too much info.

I'm sorry I can't offer any advice but didn't want to read and not respond Smile.

Hope someone is along with some advice soon. How pregnant are you?

It's possible you could have a mild prolapse, they're pretty common after childbirth anyway (3 out of 8 in my antenatal class had some form of issue) and having a second one so soon means your pelvic floor is currently under a lot of strain.

Your midwife may be able to give you advice on it too, and refer you to physio. They can also check you're doing your pelvic floor exercises correctly, which really helps.

Thank you both. I’m just over 15 weeks, so I’m conscious I’ve still got a long way to go.

Hearing that it’s pretty common is such a relief, thank you. I don’t feel so abnormal now! I have a midwife appointment late this coming week but I think I’ll still try and see a doctor, just so that I’m not worrying too much.

I am pregnant with DC3 as well and I also have a prolapse (very big babies which make very speedy exits).

For what it's worth I'm 37 weeks and pregnancy itself hasn't made it any worse.

I will of course cause more damage when I have this baby which I will have to address once he is born.

You still have plenty of time to get those pelvic floor exercises underway. Something I told myself repeatedly but always forgot to do (which is why I'm prolapsed in the first place!).

Plenty of exercise and see your GP for referral to a physio if you feel it might need one.

Thank you all, I’ve seen the doctor this morning and I have a bladder prolapse. He wasn’t much help really, just said not to worry and keep doing pelvic floor exercises, there is nothing that can be done until after baby is born.

I’m glad I know but I’m now really emotional and scared. I’d only just got my head around another baby so soon and now my bladder is coming out of me 😫

Ask your midwife for a referral to women's physio, as they can give you more personalised advice. They literally deal with these issues all the time and are much less inclined to fob you off than a GP (mine initially said he wouldn't bother checking it until a year post partum!)

If it helps, I'm under the physio for similar issues. She advised me to do my exercises lying down as then the pelvic floor is not under so much strain, and also did an internal examination while I was doing the exercises to check I was squeezing the right bits!
