Baby Activity Help?!

I’m 25+3, I have a very active baby, very strong too😂 can feel and see her kicks constantly!
Midwife was happy with everything, cracked up when she started booting the Doppler just after I said she was feisty😂
I mentioned to my step mum that the baby is constantly on the go, well it seems that way! And she went “oh thats not a good sign” and now I’m paranoid?!
Is it ok for a very active baby this early?! I know they say don’t count the kicks until 28 weeks but I’m tempted to start now!!

I meant to say midwife appointment was earlier this morning!

I think sometimes people say silly stuff without thinking! I’ve never heard that having an active baby is anything to worry about and I’m assuming the midwife didn’t say anything similar? If it were me, I’d try to ignore what your step mum said and just enjoy getting beaten up by your baby Grin
I’ve been told not to start officially tracking movement til about 28 weeks as it is not unusual to have the odd “quiet day” up until then, but maybe call your midwife and double check if it would make you feel better xx

Ignore her! She doesn't know what she's talking about.

The midwife wasn't concerned, you weren't concerned. Lack of movements are the worrying things

Stephisaur · 01/12/2018 12:37

If an active baby is your “normal” then there’s no need to worry. I think it helps you know when there’s an issue too (if one comes up) because you’ll notice sooner if you have any reduced movements.

Mine is very active (and strong!) even at almost 38 weeks. Just ignore her and listen to what your midwife tells you. If she isn’t worried, you don’t need to be :) xx

BendingSpoons · 01/12/2018 12:41

Maybe she meant it's not a good sign as the baby will be active once born? Generally movement is a good sign, as long as it is normal for your baby. Both my babies were/are like that and DD didn't stop moving after being born!

BertieBotts · 01/12/2018 12:45

I think she's probably meaning it in terms of your baby will be a handful behaviour wise when they are older. Nothing to do with the safety of the pregnancy. And it's a joke and isn't necessarily true :) don't worry!

DS wiggled from 16weeks all the way through to labour with barely any stopping! It was exhausting but lovely knowing he was okay in there.

Firsttimetobe2019 · 01/12/2018 16:02

I’m not sure, she sounded concerned as she said it!
I worry more when she doesn’t have a wriggle on! She’s a very active baby and I would much rather that, that being in the dark all the time worrying if she’s ok or not!
Thankyou ladies!
I’ll start counting the kicks in a few weeks and I honestly reckon the numbers will be sky high😂

I thought kick counts were gone and replaced by 10 in two hours?

Pebblespony · 01/12/2018 16:07

Don't mean to be rude. I'm pregnant too so I'm just curious.

BertieBotts · 01/12/2018 16:21

You can do either Pebbles.

Firsttimetobe2019 · 01/12/2018 16:23

@pebblespony I’m not sure. I read on the count the kicks page it’s important to do but I cannot recall how many it was and I’ve seen far too many articles where count the kicks have saved a child’s life.

I think she means that the baby will be harder work if its an active one in utero. Some people believe that to be true.

SquigglePigs · 01/12/2018 16:37

I'm 39 weeks and my baby has been the same - making scans and measurements interesting!!! The midwives are delighted - an active baby is a really good thing (although a little uncomfortable now if I'm honest!). Enjoy the wriggling Grin

Firsttimetobe2019 · 01/12/2018 17:15

@SquigglePigs I couldn’t agree more, especially at bed time. It’s exhausting😂 Wriggly in the womb or outside it doesn’t bother me 😍

My midwife said a couple of weeks ago that what they're like on the inside is a pretty much what they'll be like on the outside so yeah, think we're in for feisty little ones!! Grin

Firsttimetobe2019 · 01/12/2018 21:03

@SquigglePigs I’ll sign her up for boxing as soon as she pops out then😂

My little girl was a very very active baby in the womb, has been active all her life :) we love it. Just practice your nod and smile. The advice will come thick and fast :) so just nod and smile :) xx
