Normal for baby to have quiet days?

Hi all,

I'm 25+5 with my first baby. I have an anterior placenta so only started feeling undeniable baby kicks about two weeks ago.

Yesterday I was off work so was sat on my bum most of the day! I felt lots of kicks and even saw movements on the outside.

Today I was at work and on my feet most of the day, and haven't felt her move nearly as much. I've felt a few kicks and flutters but not the acrobatics of yesterday. The movements I have felt have been a lot lower down than yesterday, which makes me think she's moved position.

I went up to the hospital last week because I hadn't felt her move all day. She was fine, thankfully.

Is it normal for baby to have quiet days? Thanks Smile

I found the more mobile I was the less mobile baby was as they are rocked to sleep. Count the Kicks camaign website is good for movement advice. Generally movements that are out of character should be checked. The website will say from what date its worth monitoring from.

No. There might be days when you are busier and therefore don't notice as many kicks. That might be all this is. Any time you're worried or think movements are reduced, seek help. They won't mind.

I’ve read that you shouldn’t expect a pattern until 28 w.

If you are concerned go get checked out but when I am at work (office desk job) I feel baby move pretty constantly but on weekends when I am out and about during the day I don't feel her as much. Baby makes up for it during the night and early mornings though x

If you are at all concerned, go and get it checked. They really, really won't mind.

They don’t consider the baby large enough to develop a regular pattern until 28 weeks purely because until then they are tiny enough to turn their back to you, tuck themselves away etc. Also definitely true they are lulled to sleep by your movements so will seemingly move less the more active you are. If you are overly concerned get checked out but honestly sounds normal to me Smile.

I would always get checked out if you’re concerned.

I had this up to about 31 / 32 weeks. I'd have one or two days where i felt a lot then a couple of quieter days. My midwife wasn't concerned as I could still feel movement on the quiet days just tended to be less and only when I was very still. She said that might be my pattern but from 31/32 weeks the quiet days seem to have gone! Everyone is different of course so get checked out if you are worried, this was just my experience. I also have an anterior placenta.
