I don't think I am as, ahem, as nutritionally sound as I was last time....

Was just going to say exactly that! A little more laid back with the dietary side

beansprout · 21/06/2007 20:19

dippy dippy eggs

kyala · 21/06/2007 20:29

I'm the opposite this time!! I let myself go something chronic last time due to other's saying "Ooh you should be eating for two now!" From the word go!! LOL
That and the fact that I was ill this time round, think eating twice as much as I should've done staved off the sickness last time LOL
And I'm not feeling as hungry this time either, lucky me eh?! LOL

honeyapple · 21/06/2007 20:30

Hi Beansprout

Well, I dont think you should eat things which should be avoided whether it is your first or tenth PG, but that IMO. Would you smoke just because it is your third baby? NO.

Anyway, I think I ate less and put on less weight with subsequent pregnancies... sort of really went for it when PG first time around in the stuffing my face kinda way...

However I am unfortunately much more paranoid about things going wrong this time around. With first PG I was young and thought I was invincible and nothing would go wrong (had a bit of a shock at the birth). Perhaps I am older, and therefore worry more in general?

hmm, I ate a similar amount to first time but somehow me and babe got a LOT bigger.

mum2george · 21/06/2007 20:47

Loopy, I love that article, saw it the other week and it has really stopped me stressing!

As for me its cleaning. Was too ill to do any nesting last time but the house seems really clean and tidy at the mo. Oh well, theres a first for everything!

beansprout · 21/06/2007 20:47

Btw, ZW's article has been seriously discredited, so don't take it too seriously!

My friend is a bit of a naturalist and says "pish posh" to a lot of the stuff they tell you not to eat, soft cheeses etc, it's all down to the risk of listeria, if a producer is using good H&S then you're safe, best thing to do is to buy where it's more likely to be safest (ask at the counter where they get there soft cheeses from?!! Or get a locally sourced one!)
She was also told not to put her boy on Goat's milk when he was one (instead of cow's milk, but it's better for you!!) and he grew well!!
Anyway, I'd talk more, when the MW says "don't eat. . . ." ask why?!!
I do all the time!! She gets to go over all the stuff she learnt at MW school that she's not been asked since she left LOL

agnesnitt · 21/06/2007 22:45

Sounds sad, but enjoyed it less

Things have been so different and I haven't had many opportunities to sit back and be content. Trying to make up for it now though, only have four weeks left

so far my diet has been awful - nothing like last time. Today I have eaten pizza, ice cream, sausage rolls, biscuits and a banana!!! We all have phases where we junk up but as long as it's not for the whole time, we should be ok!!

babygrand · 21/06/2007 23:00

I drank more.

Not packing half as much as they say for your hospital bag. To bring all home again the next day.

Uki · 22/06/2007 02:21

I was thinking of skipping the rasberry leaf tea, but maybe I'll just do it as it can't hurt, just not sure it really did anything!!!

Have probably worried a little less about appearance, can't be botherd with jewelry and have even worn track pants out once

Have been slighty less paranoid about eating some things.

rubles · 22/06/2007 08:59

I am going to be less manic about the optimal foetal positioning this time I think. I'll do it, but I won't spend every possible waking moment on all fours/leaning forward. DD was always OP during pregnancy right up to the last palpation, but was fine for the birth - none of my efforts in the weeks & months previously had made any difference she just turned on her own.

Similarly to Uki, I'll do the raspberry leaf tea, but I'm not sure I buy that.

Am taking Gaviscon instead of drinking milk for the heartburn.

And finally, I have more maternity clothes this time.

Nbg · 22/06/2007 09:02

Am like others on here. Not as obsessed with the food side of things

A bit of iron from Pate is good, no?

Also I'm not stressing about things to buy. If we bought nothing up till when the baby arrives, we'd manage.

LucyJones · 22/06/2007 09:03

I drank more
I ate more because I had much worse morning sickness and could only stomach junk food!
I put on more weight.
I worried slightly less baout the baby.
When the baby was born the most noticeable change was I only saw the halth visitor once I think at baby clinic to be weighed.

rubles · 22/06/2007 09:15

Oh yes, I shall be declining Health Visitor visits this time - I thought they were compulsory last time.

Oblomov · 22/06/2007 09:39

Loopymummy - what a great food article - I knew i should have taken all the advice with a pince of .....campylobacter - whata load of tosh.

Bouquetsofdynomite · 22/06/2007 10:21

Carried a toddler around on my hip.
Drank about 6 cups of coffee a day to keep up with toddler while feeling shattered.
DH and I always argued about feta - I say it's soaked in brine and nothing unpleasant is going to survive in that. Plus most maternity books seem to lump it in with the fungal cheeses, like brie. I ate tons both times natch.

mumtoone · 22/06/2007 10:35

I'm 39 weeks with my second pregnancy and I've done the following differently:

  1. Eaten far more sweet foods such as chocolate and biscuits
  2. Learnt to take opportunities to relax before the birth rather than decorating which I did last time.
  3. Found out the sex of the baby

I think thats it.
