Has anyone ever had a constant pain in their calf whilst being pregnant? Mine started about 4 days ago and the pain hasn't eased it's the same if not worse! I'm struggling to walk properly as it's so painful.

Anyone else experienced this?

Have you seen a doctor? If not I would and quickly to rule out a blood clot.

Mamimawr · 23/11/2018 22:16

No, back pain, pelvis pain etc but not calf pain. It could be a symptom of a clot in your leg. I think you should phone your antenatal hospital to ask for advice.

Kleptronic · 23/11/2018 22:16

Go and get that looked at. Pain in the calf for four days resulting in reduced movement should be seen by a GP. Unless you recently twisted your ankle/ran a fair distance/did a spin class/some other random exercise and/or fall, go and get that looked at.

Phone the antenatal unit tonight. Your symptoms could be a clot which is a medical emergency.

ThanksItHasPockets · 23/11/2018 22:39

Please get checked tonight.

Casmama · 23/11/2018 22:45

You need to go to hospital. I had calf pain for a few days which moved to my groin and then found out that I had a fairly massive clot which could have been fatal if not treated.
I’m sorry to scare you but you cannot fuck about with this, go to hospital. I hope it’s not and if it is it can be quite easily treated but don’t ignore it.

Worieddd · 24/11/2018 04:34

I have calf pain, had it since 16 weeks. Mine is definitely sciatica though.

I would go get checked out op

Mamimawr · 24/11/2018 08:56

How are you this morning?

Darkstar4855 · 24/11/2018 11:01

Definitely get it looked at today. I would start by contacting your maternity unit/triage number who should arrange to see you. If you have any difficulty then 111 for an out of hours GP appointment.

If it is a clot (DVT) they are very treatable but if they are missed and not treated that they can potentially cause life threatening complications.

SnailorSwift · 24/11/2018 11:08

Please go and get checked out today if you haven't already. As others have said could be a DVT and if so you need to be treated ASAP.

My only symptom with mine was calf pain none of the other symptoms they tell you to look for.

Thanks all, going to pop along to a&e when my other half finishes work at 2. I just don't want to waste anyone's time encase it's just a pulled muscle lol

I don’t know what the provision is like in your area but when I had a similar issue at two weeks postpartum I called 111 and they got me a booked appointment at the out-of-hours clinic. They wanted to see me within the hour. If you call and tell them that you are pregnant with a severe pain in your calf it will trigger a red flag for a DVT and they will fast-track you.

Jr2792 · 24/11/2018 12:23

It's more on the side of my bottom half of my leg near my shin if that makes any difference?

The more of these sorts of threads I read, the more I worry about people’s ability to judge what is a waste of a time going to A and E about and what isn’t.

This could be a DVT. You need it checking. If it is a pulled muscle, that doesn’t matter. Because the symptoms match something potentially more serious, they need to rule that out. Nobody will think it’s a waste of time.

If you call 111 and ask for advice, they will tell you the same thing.

parchworkpatty · 24/11/2018 13:20

The options are (with the symptoms you describe) that it is either a) something potentially life threatening. OR b) not anything to worry about.

The chances of either a or b are equal. Why would anyone take that chance ? It defies all logic to think about this for more than a minute. Let alone the 13+ hours since you first posted and was given an answer to your question!

Hungrypuffin · 24/11/2018 15:51

How did you get on OP?
